Not easy to get to, but you can walk there from the City Nord shopping center if you don't have a car. You can get to the City Nord by the city center circular bus that runs every 15 minutes from 09:30 until 16:30 and less often after that. Pick up a map at the Tourist office. The church was built about 1240 and is really a classic Norwegian church. Many old furnishings, including a beutiful altarpiece from 1670. There is a free brochure in English that will guide you though the church. Out of the way but well worth the trouble to vist.
