This is actually not a hostel but more a hotel. It is VERY clean and new. The rooms are equipped with the basics of good quality. The breakfast was served in the cafeteria where you pick up the key card and was really, really good (eggs, spreads, different cheeses, veggies, fruit, cereals etc). The hostel is also located in a very convenient place and if you arrive with train, very easy to find. Some of the staff weren't that friendly(no smiles etc) but such attitude is quite common in the service industry in Norway. I was disappointed to find out that there was no shampoo in the bathroom even though there was a a shampoo container in the wall. I didn't pay myself but the prices displayed on their website are quite high but again; this is Norway and everything is expensive.

This hostel is convenient - close to town, easy walking distance to Olympic park and ski jumps. It is so easy to get to. Straight on the regional train at Oslo airport, at Lillehammer in 1hour and 45 minutes and upstairs to the hostel.
All rooms have just been renovated and are fresh and clean with good bathrooms. It is great to overlook the railway station through the triple glazed windows that keep in the warm and keep out any noise.
The kitchen is well equipped with a big fridge, good stoves and enough crockery and cutlery and pots and pans.

Room Tip: Ensuite rooms are good. Rooms for 3 are good too.

I have stayed here at least 4 times per year between 3 and 5 night for the last 5 years while on assignments in Lillehammer. The location is excellent with everything in the "city" within walking distance. The buses for the ski resorts stop just outside. I stay in a single room (which is the same as a double room). The beds are narrow but very comfortable. You have a small TV and free WiFi (that has not been working very good lately and the ability to fix the problem seems to be lacking). The new rooms are very nice and the new kitchen area is more functional than the old one even if the cupboards are a bit empty - don't expect a lot of cooking utensils and porcelain. The staff is great and very helpful and the breakfast buffet is very decent but don't expect any warm food except the coffee an hot chocolate.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side have views (but a bit noise from the railway)

Even though the place is advertised as a hotel, it is actually a hostel. The reception desk is located in the old railway station building and the rooms are a couple of meters away in a new building next to it. You need to pay the moment you check in, because the reception desk is not open until afternoon.

The room was clean but the equipment was very basic. Guests could use a shared kitchen in the hallway. Sound isolation was ok, which was extremely important as half of the rooms face an operating railway line.

Breakfast was served in another hotel nearby which has a really small breakfast room and not much of choice when it comes to the food itself. The hostel also provided complimentary WiFi access and a car parking space on the railway's premises nearby.

In general, it is a cheap place to stay overnight when travelling north from/to Oslo, but do not expect too much.

By the station, so you can't fault the positioning, I was expecting a hotel but really this is one of the shedload of youth hostels you find in Norway. On the first floor above the station (which means the station shop is very close), it was clean and well kept.

The room faced the railway line which isn't busy at all, though you might get woken by an early morning train. Perfectly functional room with TV. Shared kitchen was useful.

There is a late night coach terminus outside which again makes this a useful location for the traveller and there was no additional noise.

Local pizza place in what is otherwise a fairly small town.

Parking in the station car park, but you need the permit from the receptionist to avoid any parking fines. There is a subway from the car park to the station.
