While vacationing in Vienna with friends, we were searching for authentic Austrian food. Our hotel clerk highly recommended Purstner, and are we glad she did! The restaurant's interior is filled with traditional furniture and furnishings, reminiscent of a cozy hunting lodge. Our server was most pleasant and spoke both English and German fluently. The six of us each ordered something different so we could share. The Jaeger Schnitzel was HUGE! Tender, bursting with flavor, and cooked to perfect. The Spätzle was warm and buttery, the perfect compliment for the Schnitzel. Our friends had other traditional Austrian dishes which were equally delicious. We enjoyed local "vins de pays" from Austria and enjoyed them. Purstner is a several blocks away from the main square in Vienna's Old Town, but well worth the visit. Allow plenty of time to enjoy an evening of gastronomic delight!

If you want to have a nice traditional Austrian meal served by waiters in Lederhosen this is the place to go. The Wienerschnitzels are huge and of high quality, and the Apfelstrudel as dessert was delicious even if we were quite full by that time. The staff was very nice and friendly.

We ate at Pürstner on our first night in Vienna and found it to be a great preview of what was to come in a fantastic city. Very comfortable setting with a fun waitstaff! I had the sweinsschnitzel, which was very crisp and well-cooked. Served with a delicious potato salad. Portions are huge and could easily be shared. We can't figure out that name of what my husband had but it had pork medallions and semolina dumplings in a mushroom sauce with cheese. Fantastic! We really enjoyed the apfelstrudel for dessert, served warm and with the best whipped cream. Price was a real bargain and the location was great and easy to find. We would absolutely return to Pürstner!

We ate here on our final night in Vienna - and left wishing we'd found this restaurant earlier. It was easily the most delicious meal we've had during our stay and the service was warm and friendly.

Everything we ate was excellent, but a special mention needs to be made for the fried Beef with crispy onion and potatoes (can't remember the name of the dish in German). Th spare ribs were excellent and a very healthy portion.

The decoration is also quite special and we spent a minute or so walking around taking photographs.

Make sure this is on your list of restaurants to visit - it's well worth it.

We first had dinner here as it was within close walking distance to our hotel (Marriott). We ended up heading back again during our week in Vienna as it was so delicious! My mouth waters just remembering the fantastic authentic food! Both times I called ahead for a reservation as not to get there and be disappointed. The service was some of the best in the city and the cozy atmosphere and decor fit perfectly with the rustic food. It was definitely the highlight of our trip - highly recommended!
