“Beautiful place, (huge portions) nice food, good price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2013

This is authentic Austria/Vienna. Place is just pleasant to stay in if you like traditions. Portions serves 2 persons and prices are fine. Service is ok. Better reserve a table. Highly recommended.

“Ok restaurant but not for kids”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

We visited the Renner many times as we live in the area. The food is ok and the portions large. It also has a nice garden. The big disadvantage is the owner who has a problem with children and as soon as a child only gets off its bench to walk around the garden a waitress comes over and asks embarrassed if the child could sit back down as the owner (who always sits in the restaurant) dislikes children. We stopped going there as this really destroys nice family lunches and dinners.

“My absolute favourite place to order Austrian food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2012

Zum Renner's food is delicious, but be aware the sometimes the portions can be huge as well.

From the selection of local Austrian wines to desserts, it's no wonder that this restaurant has remained in service for over a hundred (!) years.

I was able to get to them via the tram or taxi the times I visit Vienna. I don't think they have english menus, but the servers are fluent in English and can help explain things like tafelspitz to tourists like myself.

I was recommended to this place by coworkers in the local office. Very pleased they sent me here and have received positive feedback from friends I have recommended there too.

“Excellent, hearty, traditional food and helpful service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2012

This place was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint us! We followed the host's recommendations and had Tafelspitz (pancake noodles with braised beef in stock) and delicious wines to go with it. The whole meal was delightful, in very pleasant and relaxed surroundings. They had a garden but we sat inside as it was October and the weather was not suitable for outdoor dining.

We would strongly recommend this for anyone looking for excellent traditional cuisine. Just follow tram D from central Vienna to the end of the line, and go for a lovely walk through the surrounding vineyards beforehand while in the neighbourhood.

“Delicious Meal in a Delighful Garden”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

Take the D Tram to the second to last stop on Nussdorf Platz. We had lived for part of a year in Nussdorf more than three decades ago and were eager to return to our old haunt. After walking around quite a bit and taking many pictures, including of the building where we used to live, we went to have lunch at Zum Renner. We lunched in the garden on a beautiful September day. This is traditional Austrian food, served in large quantities, excellent, and with an English speaking waiter available if wanted. Nussdorf is a quaint and historic town of vineyards and quite different form the bustle of Vienna. The garden is peaceful and serene. The rest of the people that were also there were locals, either having a meal or just a leisurely glass of wine or two or a beer. The excellence of the food was matched by the friendly service. If you want a slice of Vienna away from the typical tourist venues, come to Nussdorf and to Zum Renner!
