“A Viennese Tradition - sensational sandwiches”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

Whenever in Vienna in the city center near St Stephens -and if you are hungry but don't want to loose to much time this is the place to visit.
Pieces of dark bread covered in many variations with the unique spreads - refined over many decades (true !)- plus small glasses of whichever beverages you want - are the ultimate quick lunch

“Spice, salt and vinegar”
Reviewed June 4, 2014 via mobile

Not for everyone, unless you are a fan of eggs, fish, salt and vinegar, which feature heavily in most sandwiches. Personally, I most enjoyed the Pfefferoni scharf (spicy pepperoni), which was yellow and bright green!

“Timeout while touring”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

We had a wonderful treat during a self guided walking tour of Vienna. One of the recommendations was Trzeniewski's. We stopped for a snack and it was wonderful to see the display of the opened faced sandwiches. Ask for the English menu for an explanation of the sandwiches then put in your order. When you pay, you get a token for your pfiff - your small beer that is poured at the end of the counter. There is stand up tables or a few tables with seats. They also sell the cute beer glasses!

“Fun and unique”
Reviewed May 16, 2014

Adorable open-faced sandwiches and beer at stand-up tables in a Viennese institution; how could you go wrong? The sandwiches were all more "eggy" than I expected, but were all delicious. And it makes for a very efficient break before continuing with sightseeing (though if you are hoping to take a load off and rest your feet, better choose somewhere else).

“Some experiences are required”
Reviewed May 6, 2014 via mobile

If you want to claim that you have been to Vienna, you are required to visit the opera and eat so called "sandwiches" at Trzesniewski's. I have done both.
