“Good little finger sandwiches terrible service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

Very close to the cathedral. I wouldn't recommend it to you if you are very hungry. They are very small and tasty sandwiches over 1 euro each. The kind of "tapa" or finger food they will serve free in Spain with a drink. This place is good for a snack and a drink. The service is terrible by the way, really bad customer service I think the worst we had in the countries we visited, I guess they have enough people to do not care about service, or maybe they are just like that with tourists but in my case I wont go back because of that.

“Great lunch stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

What a pleasant surprise! This place was billed as a buffet in its street signage, and we don’t generally do buffets. But when we peaked in we found something completely different – a tidy glassed-in counter with an array of small open-faced sandwiches. There were 15 or 20 different selections of semi-purees – red pepper, salmon, cucumber, egg -- on delicious thinly sliced dark bread. At 1.10 euro per sandwich we were able to sample six different flavors – all excellent, especially when served with the tap beer. The counter service was swift and cheery, and there was nice seating inside and standing tables on the street. A local gem and a great lunch experience.

“An "Institution" of Vienna”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

Take a "Pfiff" beer (ca. 0,2 l) an a few breads. Like it. A institution right in the heart of the city. Not cheap (what is?)

“Sort of interesting, but is it great?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2013 via mobile

If you want open-topped egg sandwiches, fair enough, this is the place to get them. It's a bit samey once you've had a plateful. I don't think I'd search it out again, it's more of a novelty than anything else.

Mind you, a good egg sandwich is sometimes just the ticket!

“Best Sandwiches in Vienna”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

Legendary small egg sandwiches for any taste in Vienna, opened in 1902.Situated in the center of Vienna, close to Stephan's Dome. A sandwich costs about 1 euro, a little overpriced but the sandwiches is good! 4-5 sandwiches would make a full lunch and 3 for a light lunch, and don't forget to try their little pfiff of beer!
