Not the best, but certainly a fun place to enjoy the biggest schnitzel in the world. You'll hear lots of different languages being spoken. It's a small place, but a classic little Austrian pub, for lack of a better term. Hard to be critical, because it's simply just a fun place. If you want fine dining, this is not it. If you want some classic Austrian fare, with some simple local white wine to wash down your schnitzel, and a classic Potato salad with pumpkinseed oil dressing, in the heart of the old city, this is the place. What amazes me, is the consistency. I come here once a year for the last 20 years. It's always the same. Never exciting, very consistent, classic, touristy, but not in the American mall food since. Just a fun place for an amazing schnitzel.

Best recommendation is to take advantage of your jet lag and go at off hours to avoid the crowds. If you do that, it's much more leisurely.

“But please......not here!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

Definitely a very crowded, modern and hyper touristic place! The schnitzel is yes big, but also not exceptional at all! It is cooked in burnt oil and get a smoky taste! The place is smelly of grease, to burn the dress once out! The service is TOURISTIC, a food-factory! As soon as you have, almost, finished you are fired out.... Mais s'il vous plait........

“The best potato salad!”

Besides the best schnitzel, they make the best potato salad in the world. Do what the others say, don't miss that salad.

“An institution”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013

This place is an institution, attracting hoards of tourists. Nowhere in Vienna, I have heard so many foreign languages spoken. The greatest surprise is not that the enormous Wienerschnitzel are absolutely delicious or that the service is fast, but that the restaurant has resisted the easy temptation to turn into a tourist ripoff. Prices are still very reasonable, also for drinks, and service is professional, attentive and even fun.
