“Excellent experience in Restaurant DEMI TASS”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

During my last visit to Vienna, my hotel recommended restaurant Demi Tass for Indian dinner.
Though the name of the restaurant doesn't sound Indian, I was not sure whether the restaurant would be real Indian. But after reading about the CERTIFICATE OF EXCELENCE in Tripadvisor, I decided to to take chance.

Well I recommend to evreryone who is looking for an excellent candlelight Indian dinner in romantic Indian atmosphare, The food is much tastyer than one can imagine and service is very professional. We had ordered Samossa and Palak ki roti as starter which was made to order; was crispy and full of taste. As main dish, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamm Biryani and Makhani with Basmati Rice and Nan. For desserts, Pista kulfi with exotic fruits and Mango cuoup.

The restaurant is located just in front of the Bellevedare Palace and not from from the city centre. Taking the taxy from hotel cost € 15.00 or one can take a D Tram which leaves from Opera in the direction of Main Railway station.

“Highly overrated and overpriced”
Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

On our last visit to Vienna, we went to this restaurant after we had learnt from few people. It was closer to our hotel so we decided to go. Snacks and food was very average. Probably we went with high expectation of a good food but it was average food and we all found it overpriced and not value for money. The owner was warm and recommended us few Indian cuisine but the overall experience was very average. On the other side we tried Kebab boxes on street side in Vienna and we were happily surprised by the quality and taste of the food offered there. I would certainly give 5 Star to the street side Kebab Box corner close to Opera House. One must go there and enjoy excellent food and warmth.

“Delicious Indian food, kind and professional service”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Food was delicious, tasty and of high quality.
To emphasize especially the willing of the owner lady to know exactly how hot each one would like his dish to be. A sauce served as part of the beginning snack served for precise calibration of this. We felt it was really important for them to serve each one with the exact required spiciness. Many credit points earned here.
Two reasons for grading 4 and not 5:
1. Price is somewhat on the expensive side.
2. They should serve cold tap water freely, and not only bottles of mineral water that are highly priced.
Overall - very recommended if looking for a good Indian food.

Visited after searching for good reasonably priced Indian in Vienna. The restaurant is out the way (takes a special detour to get there away from the metro lines) and is quite small with seating for max. 25 people. Starters ranged from 5-9 euro, with Mulligatawny soup being acceptable. Mains were quite good although portions medium and prices upto 28 euro. Mango gins were overpriced coming in a cocktail glass rather than a tumbler. All in all 67 euro for 2 people ... this is not reasonably priced so either the viennese are rich, pricing has increased of late or some people have money to burn. Had better indian meals in other cities and I wouldn't bother making the detour again.
