“Nice stay”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Our family of 4 shared 2 connecting rooms. Although very small, the rooms were very clean and nicely furnished. The breakfast was delicious! There was a nice buffet with the option of getting eggs cooked to order. The hotel is well located within walking distance of most everything, as well as a metro station close by.

This is a stylish, character hotel with a perfect location within walking distance to most areas of interest and has fabulously helpful staff. This is definitely a great spot to stay in Vienna. The rooms are smallish but beautifully appointed and are pretty and comfortable. Breakfast is lovely with Austrian specialties and fresh fruit and pastries. Again, the staff are wonderful and gave great service. perfect!

We highly recommend Das Tyrol, Vienna for the following reasons.
1. Superb central location.
- The Museums Quartier and Kunsthistorishes Museum are very close to the hotel. Major attractions are also within a walking distance.
- You can access to Underground stations ( Museum Quartier, Volkstheatre and Karlsplatz) within a few minutes walk.
- Quiet.
2. Good size room with a nice bathroom , especially very good shower, at reasonable rate.
3. Very wide variety of full breakfast is included.
4. Well trained service oriented staff.

A fine hotel with 30 rooms. It is located in the main shopping street, very close to the museum district and the ring road. The hotel is equipped with attention to detail with very tasteful modern art. All areas are very clean and in perfect condition.

Room Tip: Right side is quiet

My husband & I stayed at this Most appealing boutique hotel for 6 nights in late May. I hve been in many hotels all over Europe, but this is a GEM. Well situated, decor colorful, comfortable, and extremely clean. Enough hangers for clothes without asking, great lighting to apply makeup and a young woman named Betina at the desk who is right on as to directions & where to go to see & eat. (Don't miss the Belvedere & the Leopold museum for ART). The Leopold is across the street. I discovered at the really delicious breakfast each day a coffee called Melange (a special Viennese treat which I miss here in New York). Think of me when u hve it! And glory be, sign up every day (if u wish) for the sauna, steam & message lighted shower. You can go alone or with your mate & it is absolutely spotless and PRIVATE (which is why u make the reservation). Vienna is a most beautiful city and this hotel does it justice. We loved the place. (10 minute walk to St. Steven's Square and a stone's throe from Nashmarket with goodies & restaurants galore (ask Betina).

Room Tip: We know some rooms faced the street, our view was apt rooftops & it was quiet.

Very friendly reception staff especially Mr Lajos and at breakfast. Clean, well decorated rooms that are good size and with wifi and nespresso machine. Very good breakfast with superb omlettes and coffee. Great location next to Musuem area and Naschmarkt and just a short walk to Hofburg, next to UBahn station also.

One small improvement would be for hotel to provide information / recommendation about the local area as there are some nice restaurants / cafes and sights which are very close by but outside the main Ring and so not all tourists may know. eg Naschmarkt, Ramen Asian restaurant which was very good and Cafe Sperl.

Dear Kugo,

thank you very much for taking the time to comment our services. We are happy that you liked our reception staff, the rooms, our breakfast and the excellent location.

Regarding the small improvement about information and recommendation our reception staff obviously did forget to hand you out our new "restaurant guide TOP SPOTS IN TOWN"! We are very sorry for that. In this little booklet we recommend selected restaurants, Cafès, "heurige (taverns selling homegrown wine)", Bars & Music etc. which have been tested and chosen by me personally.

We hope to welcome you again in our Small Luxury Hotel Das Tyrol during your next stay in Vienna.

Best regards,
Helena Ramsbacher & her team

We arrived by automobile from northern Italy late in the day. The GPS made finding this almost invisible hotel easy-though parking was the usual european city nightmare. A large city garage just across the very busy Mariahilfer Strasse proved to be as convenient as possible in this congested part of Vienna. We parked in the Das Tyrol reserved spots near the elevator, on level 2 below, and managed our luggage across the busy Mariahilfer Strasse and up the few steps to the Das Tyrol lobby. No porterage was available ( and none also when we departed). This is not a hotel for those with physical limitations. Hotel Tyrol charges 17 euros per day for parking-so be sure to ask-much less than the city garage rates, I believe.

Das Tyrol is lightly staffed but adequate. The quaint 3 person elevator works well-as long as it is 2 normally sized people(with luggage) or 3 small folks without. I tried it with two fellow travelers, both over 6 feet-the lift would go up but wouldn't let us off. Worked fine with less load, so be careful. Our room was tiny but attractive. We had a great view of the building next door-no matter; we came to see Vienna, and we did.

The best part of this hotel is the breakfast room-fine, expansive selection of everything one would expect in a continential morning meal-including excellent omelets made to your specifications. This is a real plus in the city of Vienna-where even a modest street food meal will cost 20 euros if you aren't careful.

Das Tyrol has a ultra modern Spa, with striking decor and amazing bath fixtures.

On our departure, Das Tyrol provided a boxed meal of sandwiches and fruit-a very nice touch-since we left around 6am to turn the car in and catch an early morning flight to Frankfurt (another nightmare airport)- since the breakfast room didn't open until later.
