This year, New Year’s Eve was in Vienna. Besides wonderful experience in the city – museums, cafes, palaces, whole old town changed into multi-stage ballroom on 31st Dec night, fireworks in front of Hofburg, etc., the highlight was our stay in the hotel Das Tyrol. This is indeed special place, very artistic, but charming and very friendly. Location is great, close to most interesting places and metro, but also quiet, which was important for sleeping after the noisy night. On top of everything, we enjoyed breakfasts in the hotel, especially the waiter who remembered all guests and offered (always perfectly right) favorite, fresh morning hot drink – i.e. stronger cappuccino for me and good tea for my partner. This is what I call excellent service!

Room Tip: Rooms are relatively small, but nice, superior have Nepresso coffee maker.

Got this hotel name from tripadvisor. Many thanks for those who gave their reviews and recommended this hotel. It was a great pleasure to stay there. Stayed there for 2 nights. Good location, on shopping street and almost across the street to museum quartier. All staff are kind, friendly and very helpful. Room is big enough and clean with plenty (and many varieties) of coffee and tea. Breakfast was good quality and delicious. Everything is perfect! Definitely recommend this hotel.

Third at Das Tyrol. while maybe not the best at everything, Das Tyrol provides a very comfortable and enjoyable stay while in Vienna. The rooms, while small, are very well appointed and feel luxurious. The staff is beyond responsive and always available. The breakfast buffet is really exceptional with a great variety of fresh quality choices. They will cook eggs exactly how you like them with good breakfast meat choices. I love the variety of quality jams and honeys for the fine breads and croissants.
Although outside the "ring" it is still only a 10 minute walk to Stephen's Platz and 3 minutes to the underground. You may rub shoulders with the owners at breakfast or in the elevator as the family resides at the hotel; maybe why the staff is on their toes.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better to get some sky exposure. Even the lower floors are quite considerin...

After 2 weeks traveling I wanted a really nice 'last' hotel, and Das Tyrol did not disappoint.!! the location was perfect, two blocks from the Inner Ring and the art museum another couple of block to the Opera house, Secession Museum and a perfect point to explore Vienna on foot.

The room was very comfortable (we had 3), the breakfasts were lovely and the staff was extremely attentive and helpful. We had an early flight and I asked for a packed breakfast to take, and we had a lovely bagful of goodies for our trip! The restaurant recommendations were knowledgable and spot on. For being on a main thoroughfare, our room was incredibly quiet....

My only suggestion would be that the sauna would be open in the afternoon/early evening....it would have been lovely to take advantage of this after a long day of walking & sightseeing...But again a wonderful experience which I will certainly recommend.

thanks!

I stayed here last November as I had to go to Vienna on business and tagged on a couple of days sightseeing. I chose Das tyrol as it has excellent reviews and is a 'Small Luxury Hotel' - i have stayed in several of the other hotels in that 'group' and they have all been great..
Location is ideal, literally a few steps from the underground (although we missed the entrance on Mariahilfer Street the first time and went across to a different entrance, we found it on way back!) Everything is only one or two stops away on the very efficient underground.
It is also very close (a few minutes walk) to Spittelberg area which is really quaint and full of great bars and restaurants and the Christmas market was on whilst we were there, we could have done with knowing this on the first night as arrived lateish and were looking for somewhere closeby to eat but receptionist failed to tell us about Spittelberg.
The rooms are small but beautiful and have mini bar and nespresso maker (not great if you're a tea drinker as it doesn't taste as good from the machine) and the bathrooms are well fitted.
Lights in the bedroom are a bit dim but there is room in bathroom to do hair and makeup easily. Nice touches like slippers and robe and chocolate on pillow.
The breakfast was good and service friendly.
The main problem for me was that there was no bar, it is a small hotel but maybe the breakfast room could be used as a bar too? It would be nice to have a drink before going out whilst planning where to go and a nightcap when you get back.
Smoking is still common in a lot of places in Vienna, there is usually a separate area for smoking and the reception area is a smoking area which meant the smell came upstairs and if you sat waiting for anyone in reception you ended up smelling of smoke.
Our rooms were on 1st floor and you could hear the staff getting breakfast ready as the sound came straight upstairs early each morning which wasn't too much of a problem as we were up early but could have been if you wanted a lie in.
All in all it is a good hotel but would be better if public areas were improved to offer a bar service and the younger, male, evening receptionists could be friendlier and at least say hi when you come through reception.

Room Tip: Higher floor at rear of hotel is quieter

What a wonderful hotel and absolutely everything was perfect. We stayed for 8 nights over Christmas and it was simply fantastic. The room was spacious and comfortable, especially for a European hotel. The bathroom was a good size and toiletries were provided; the bedroom had storage space, reading lights over the bed, comfortable linens and pillows, and a nespresso coffee/tea machine that was great in the morning and at the end of the day. They even leave chocolates on the pillows; it was wonderful to end the day with a cup of tea and a little sweet.

The hotel itself is in a perfect location. It's only a minute walk to the underground station, the museums quarter, Spittelberg quarter and the Natural History and Art History Museums - both must sees. There are also lots of great restaurants and shops within walking distance. The hotel is on one of the busiest shopping streets in Vienna, but is extremely quiet. We had a corner room and didn't hear any street noise and it was super convenient to pop in and out during the day or to freshen up before going back out for dinner/nightlife. Breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. Lots of options, and typically European with meats, cheeses, spreads, vegetables and breads, but they also had cereal, yogurts, pastries and eggs to order as well as specialty coffees, teas and prosecco.

We used the spa/sauna several times; it was so relaxing to sweat and relax at the end of a long day of walking the city.

While many things about the hotel were awesome, it was the staff who rocked it out, especially Bettina and Christina. There was a gentleman who worked the desk in the evenings but we can't remember his name, but he was extremely helpful as well. All three of them made reservations for us, gave us recommendations, directions and tips. Bettina served us coffee and snacks in the lobby when we had to wait a few minutes for a breakfast table to be ready and made us a lunch box to go for our early morning/before breakfast departure and Christina gladly helped us practice our German.

We loved every minute of our stay, enjoyed coming "home" at the end of the day and would definitely stay here again.

This hotel manages to be what one expects of a boutique hotel without being pretentious or over-the-top in terms of furnishings etc. Staff are really welcoming and helpful, my room was very comfortable, quiet and clean and the bathroom of adequate size. Breakfast is excellent, although my scrambled eggs was more like pieces of omelette! And the hotel itself is in an excellent location. My only suggestion is that part of the outdoor into the hotel and those in reception be replaced with a ramps as having to lug a suitcase up all the steps is not fun.
