This apartment was in excellent condition and in an excellent location, being only 10 minutes walk to St Stephen's Cathedral. It was a real home from home, and having a balcony was a real bonus, especially when drinking a cold beer after a day sightseeing. There were a couple of supermarkets about a five minute walk from the apartment where I was able to stock up. The underground was a five minute walk away which was great. And Marc, the owner, was helpful and charming. I will definitely stay in this apartment again when I come to the Opera. Thank you Marc.
A modern, comfortable and well appointed apartment in a quiet area by the Danube Canal and easy walking distance of St Stephen's Cathedral. We stayed 2 days. Marc (the owner) was very polite and explained everything in detail. Thank you Mark for wonderful trip.
I stayed for 5 days while I attended a medical conference at the Austria Center. Quick access to metro, shops, and restaurants. Amenities were excellent: large bed, great water pressure in the shower, full sized kitchen and comfy living space. I always prefer an apt to hotel living. Highly recommend it. Marc was easy to teach and quick to respond.
My daughter wanted a honeymoon in Vienna and found this apartment lovely with a very nice landlord. Best of all was the location. Easy to walk to most of what people want to see in Vienna and close to a major subway hub.
We stayed in this apartment for nearly two weeks, having chosen it from previous good reviews. If anything we found the experience even better than we anticipated from every point of view, not just the apartment itself.
The apartment itself is an excellent piece of modern architecture, very well built and designed, with an excellent disposition of rooms, furniture and fittings designed to maximise the sense of spaciousness, very good security, very good and flexible central heating and natural ventilation, really excellent and strong wifi, very good cooking cleaning and eating equipment, in short all that is needed to make visitors feel they have been welcomed into a friend's home, but at the same time one feels, and is, fully independent.
Marc was very helpful and considerate, and his briefings were very good, on both the equipment and the surrounding locality transport and shopping and eating facilities.
The location could not be better - it is quietly and interestingly and diversely residential, but there are two supermarkets within 5 minutes walk + also the Hotel and Restaurant Stefanie which offers really excellent Viennese cuisine, at a reasonable price and with excellent service, and as a bonus a collection of historical clocks and china in and around the restaurant with notes as to their history.
The Hotel Stefanie is actually the oldest in Vienna, tracing itself back to about 1600 and with the current family's ownership going back to about 1870. I think the name Stefanie was adopted in the 19th Century in deference to one of the popular figures who married into the Habsburg - the Imperial Royal - family. Also worth mentioning is the excellent Vegan Cakeshop Nicole, down the road from the apartment, in Lilienbrungasse.
The apartment is also on foot about 15 minutes easy and pleasant walk from Central Vienna, treating that as St Stephan's Cathedral, and perhaps 25 minutes walk from the Opera and that end of the Ring. There is a tram stop 2 minutes from the apartment (Number 2 tram) that takes one directlly to most destinations on the Ring, including for instance the Opera, the National Library, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Leopold Museum, and much more.
The apartment is five minutes from the Schwedenplatz, from which both U1 and U4 underground lines go directly (and connections to other U-Bahn lines and the Hauptbahnhof are good and easy).
Schwedenplatz, on the city side of the Donaukanal, and reached by walking (or catching the tram) from Lilienbrunngasse over the Marienbruecke, is a major transport hub, and is a stopping place for many long distance coaches, as well as the airport bus.
It is worth paying the three Euros at either the Opera or the Hauptbahnhof Wiener Linien Information Office, to buy the large scale transport map of Vienna that shows and enables integration of buses and trams as well as the underground, and the S-Bahn. At any U-Bahn station, including Schwedenplatz, there are excellent and user-friendly machines for buying a transport pass for 24, 48 or 72 hours, running from the date the pass is stamped in one of the validator machines as you walk into any of the U-Bahn stations.
We are looking forward to staying in the apartment again, as we find Vienna an engrossing, beautiful, and culturally and historically stimulating place to visit. We would certainly recommend the apartment to other intending visitors, very strongly.
A modern, well appointed apartment in a quiet area by the Danube Canal. Within very easy walking distance of St Stephen's Cathedral and all of the Innere Stadt. Some good local restaurants, a well stocked Spar about 200m away and a very good Saturday farmers market at Karmelitermarkt.
This city centre apartment is wonderfully positioned for visiting Vienna. It is in a quiet street close to a supermarket and local restaurants. It is modern and beautifully furnished, with everything you will need.
The centre of Vienna is 1/2 a mile.
The owner Marc was fantastic. He met us late in the evening as our flight had been delayed and showed us around the apt. Informing us of all we needed to know.
We would love to go back and can highly recommend Lilienbrunn, you won't be disappointed.
