Just a short U-Bahn journey away from Karlsplatz and Stephansplatz (nearest stop Hietzing on U4) nice location, friendly staff, lovely room, would recommend!

Hotels in Vienna do not tend to be very cheap and when I booked this I thought it would be a dump. How wrong I was! Yes, it is dated and the elevator does not go to all floors, but what can one get for that sort of money nowadays anyway? The room was on the fourth floor, very quiet (although the hotel is on a shopping street with a tram passing through, it is so positioned that most of the building is not exposed to the street) and yes, dated, but very clean an actually very large, with separate walk-in warderobe and bathroom. We came very late and the receptionist was nice enough, other (phone) communication beforehand was dealt with very nicely and promptly. All in all, considering the price, excellent location and the area around, I would go there anytime again. Come to think of it, I wouldn't really know why one would pay more in Vienna, providing one is capable of taking one's luggage one or two flights of stairs if there is nobody at the reception at that moment...

Room Tip: one of the best values for money I had ever, anywhere, period.

Spent four nights at the Ekazent in mid-September. Turned out to be better than expected. Our room on the 4th floor was large, and if somewhat dated and a bit utilitarian, very clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a small retail area which turned out to be convenient if you needed to pick up a few things, as you were buying at local rather than downtown tourist prices. In addition there were a number of restaurants if you didn't feel like eating downtown. The very efficient metro was only a five minute walk away so it was very easy to get to the city core and back (or at the beginning and end of our visit very simple to get too and from the Westbahn train station). A big surprise was the top floor buffet breakfast. Nice spot, good variety offer and excellent service. The hotel staff manned the desk 24/7 and were helpful whenever we needed anything. Overall, what I expected to be a bit of an "industrial" hotel proved to be better. Good value in return for a slightly longer commute time to the city core. And, if you plan to spend a day at Schonbrunn palace and gardens (and you should) or just take an evening walk, the entrance is only a few minutes walk away.

Room Tip: Getting a room on the back (facing away from the retail square) and away from the main road might be...

Great hotel for the price - huge, clean rooms (albeit dated), right on Hietzing square (very nice neighborhood) and next to Schönbrunn park.

I stayed here for four nights. I was given a room for four with a view to the street. Decoration is rather late 70's but well kept. It is quite odd to have to take the elevator in order to access, for the hotel is part of an office building. The neighborhood is nice, just near the Schonbrunn castle and its beautiful gardens. Not near the city downtown, so you have to take the subway, which is quite near.
Liked: big room, free internet wi-fi connection, large walking closet, close to subway station, lovely view from the terrace, very clean.
Did not like: not very friendly front desk staff, messed my wake up call (called me one hour early!), the cleaning lady trolley was ALWAYS parked just outside my room!, noise bird at the reception, tiny shower compartment.
A good buffet breakfast is included in the price, service is not friendly though.

I got my room on the last floor. Elevator would not go to the last floor until someone from the reception area would go to the elevator and turn the key.
Shower room is very small.
Too far from the city center.
They don't even have an iron in the room and there is no air conditioner.
I would not classify this hotel as a 3 star, may be 2.

We stayed here in June 2009 during our 3-day trip to Vienna. Had a triple and double room. It turned out, both rooms were triple rooms. On the positive side, rooms are bright, airy and very spacious. The bathroom is tiny, and the room has a dressing room/walk-in closet larger than the bathroom. Not a smart use of the space, if you ask me. The rooms are in general clean, but after checking in, I discovered a pair of black panties hanging in the dressing room - not a good sign. The bathrooms are really small, some have full bathtubs, some only 1/2 bathtubs. The toiletries are very basic - solid soap and shower gel in super-small portions.

Overall, the rooms have a 70's look and while clean, they look pretty aged. The doors are probably as old as me :) - but not "antique old", just "stale old." The curtains didn't seem clean, had holes in them (cigarettes?) and seemed to have been used to kill flies or other insects (sorry for being graphic...). I don't think any of the rooms are non-smoking, but our room didn't have any cigarette odor, while our kids' room had. The hallways are dingy, with strange copper-looking covers on top of the ceiling and they were in general used to store extra beds, housekeeping carts, etc. The carpets in the room seemed clean, albeit old, while the rugs in the lobby looked tired and not cleaned professionally in a while. There is a parrot in the lobby which my kids found amusing - I personally didn't like that his dirt kept falling on some newspapers on the floor.

We didn't try the breakfast as for the 7 euro price per person we all ate croissants and had coffee at the coffee shop in front of the hotel. The parking is pricey (15 euro+ per day in the garage), but if you're lucky to find a spot on the street where the parking entrance is located, you don't pay a dime. The staff is friendly, but can be clueless about most things. E.g., we were told a 13 y.o. would need to pay adult fare on the subway, whereas 6-15 y.o. only pay 1/2 price. Feel free to ask them for information, but double check just in case. The hotel has wireless internet, but pretty poor quality (frequent connection drops).

The hotel is perfectly located next to Schonbrunn Palace and 7 stops on the subway from Karlsplatz. Vienna is a great city and we will definitely return to visit, just not at this hotel - unless it is renovated!
