I stayed here for 4 nights with my boyfriend back in January and we've been meaning to write a review ever since. We were really impressed...the room was great, a quirky design but really comfortable and so many nice little touches (sleep spray, Pez, free iPad during our stay). The hotel also has a sauna, a little cinema showing films each night, a small garden, and a self-serve bar area with electric piano, which are good additions. Staff were friendly but left us alone and didn't need to speak to them very much, which I think is the sign of a good hotel. They did happily accommodate my request for hypo-allergenic bedding though, and it was already in the room when we arrived (late at night).

The breakfasts were incredible, different platters each day and beautifully presented. Decent coffee too. The hotel also put out a sort of afternoon tea each day in one of the communal areas, which you could just help yourself to. We certainly didn't go hungry here! We did also try the hotel's restaurant, which is just around the corner from the hotel. Not the cheapest but would definitely recommend - having experienced a very heavy, traditional Austrian meal the night before, it was great trying some more modern local cuisine!

Location is great, 3 minutes from the U-bahn (Schwedenplatz). A convenient place to get to all the main tourist attractions. Lots of nice coffee shops in the area too.

Overall, a fantastic hotel and would definitely go back. The only thing I didn't like was the neon orange colour scheme...pretty minor really!

Room Tip: I recommend the room right next to the cinema, which was quiet and a little bit on its own as we had...

Fabulous hotel, so many details that add up to it being a great place to stay. I wish other hotels would learn from some of the gestures this hotel made.
Lovely rooms - four poster bed, super clean and comfy, shower - massive with a rain shower head falling from the ceiling. They give you an ipad during your stay so you can pour over the things to do in Vienna without having to drag down to tourist information or ask at reception. They even set up mail for you on the ipad. Nice touch. and a welcome on the blackboard to greet you. Mr and Mrs (ha!) that was romantic ;0)

The location is perfect for scouting out Vienna, and for ease of access to the city bike scheme which of course you can register at from the comfort of your room on the super fast internet (free) and then walk down the road and use the bikes all over town for 1euro after the first hour which is free.

Breakfast is without a doubt THE best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel. Tonnes of homemade goodies, a platter of ham, cheese, fresh fruit, a menu of hot options, eggs florentine, omlettes etc and great coffees, teas etc. Prosecco if you so desire ;0) Not buffet, waitress service and super friendly.

The little garden was a treat what with the hotel being in the middle of the town, the free snacks from 2pm, the lovely cinema that seats 8 including free popcorn. We had a great evening watching the third man - Orson wells, a scene from which is depicted in some of the design of the hotel.

All in all, wickedly good, and would without hesitation stay again.

We have not stayed in this hotel as (only) two days for our departure the hotel informed us by e-mail that they had an overbooking and that we needed to stay in another hotel. They offered this for the same price, although the room rates for the alternative hotel on the internet were lower than the price for the original room we booked.........One would expect some sort of compensation (e.g. upgrade) if this happend but clearly this hotel has enough business to just send a short e-mail and then consider the matter closed. We did not receive any reply to our e-mail that the proposed solution was not acceptable to us and we ended up making a last minute booking another hotel for our stay in Vienna.

So be ware of overbooking and check that you have have a room as the hotel staff clearly does not care.............

I would not call it the perfect place but it's certainly well thought through conzept. The location is perfect, you won't leave the place hungry in the morning, huge selection, freshly cooked breakfast. In the afternoon they treat you to Austrian cake and sandwiches should you be able to eat again. The little garden is an oasis in a busy Vienna. Staff is very very friendly and it was a joy to stay there for couple of days. Only negative and that's why I didn't give it an Excellent was the noise you get from people passing through the hotel as most of the rooms are very close to the rezeption, the living room and the breakfast room.

The reason I write a review about the Hollmann is because eve though I have stayed there over a year ago, I still think about this hotel almost every week. I am a hotel GM and I have stayed in over 70 4-5 star hotels but this place stand out for me the most. Great atmosphere, amazing and real attention to detail. Everywhere you look you can feel that someone wanted to make this place very very special. They have succeeded and there is no question in my mind that whenever I returnt to Vienna I will stay there.

The Hollmann puts the boutique in boutique. Cozy chic. In the heart of Vienna. Tiny place, 2 floors in a building with other offices, apts. You need the exact address to find it, the sign is quite small. A few blocks from the Cathedral. Outstanding breakfast, made to order. We were with a group, and the Hollmann was perfect for that. Rooms around the perimeter of the common area -- great place to visit with other guests. Only drawback was the AC didn't work very well. Ate lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant which is not in the same building, even more tucked away. Outstanding food, inventive menu, great service.
