I live in San Diego. I live on Mexican food. We eat Mexican food an average of 1 time per day. Yes, day.
I am in the middle of a 2 1/2 month trip abroad that was going to test my endurance on being away from Mexican food. First, Japan for 3 weeks. Then Europe for 7 weeks. A Mexican food desert.
No worries. I am plugging along. Then all of a sudden it hits me. Right in the middle of working. I completely lose track of what I am doing and start fantasizing about a plate of chicken tacos and cheese enchiladas. Rice and beans. Then I snap out of it.
So, we had 3 days off in Vienna. I am walking the streets checking it all out. As I am walking past a corner, a very specific sign catches my eye. The style is very specific. Very authentic to a Mexican restaurant. I figure, what's the worst that can happen?
I walk down the street and come to the door. Upon peering inside, the tablecloths are perfect for an authentic Mexican restaurant. And, there is a sombrero on the wall!
I am in.
I sit down and ask for an English menu. No such luck. Well, I don't speak Austrian. Maybe I can figure it out. Dude who is coming up to me is a bit darker than the average bear. Maybe I can habla the Espanol!
We communicate perfectly. I ask for his suggestion. Chicken burrito.
It is pretty epic. Just what I was looking for. Perfectly seasoned chicken, great salsa, passable guacamole. I am in heaven.
I liked it so much that I returned the next evening. With 2 of my work buddies. They both loved it as well.
Please frequent this restaurant. It is well worth it.
