Palais Hansen Kempinski

This is a difficult review for me to write. While the Kempinski is a beautiful, relatively new hotel, we have mixed feelings about our stay here.
First of all, know that it is very modern in feel and in decor. Lots of high-end electronics, including a thermostat on the tub and shower, if you're into that kind of thing. Nothing wrong with this, we just found it was not to our taste. Also, the rooms look inward toward a courtyard, rather than out at the city ~ again, a matter of taste.
Also, the lobby and other amenities feel very formal. We are used to staying at 5* hotels, but most do not feel so stiff.
As others have mentioned, the staff is unpolished, sometimes unprofessional, and when you are paying at the top end of the scale, you simply expect top notch service in all areas.
The location is quiet, which also means you are a short hike from the activities. This was not a problem for us, but you should take note.
All in all, if we return to Vienna we would choose to stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: Only 3 floors. Courtyard "view" felt claustrophobic to me.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in. Lovely historic building renovated with all modern facilities.
Beautiful rooms. Grand Deluxe rooms are suite size and beautiful. And their Ring suite absolutely fabulous. But what made the place even more special was the friendliness of the staff. I felt no feeling of pretentiousness, or that they were fussing just to get a tip. From the door man though to front desk, housekeeping and dining, they were all v friendly. They made my 9 yo daughter feel v welcome - she loved the hotel.
Some points: Location v. convenient on west part of the Ring, 1-2 min to the Schottenring U station and from there anywhere else in Vienna, tram just outside 5-10 min ride to Karlplatz and Stephendom, with Rathaus, Kunstmuseum and Opera along the way.
Breakfast: best breakfast around but pricey at 39 euro (worth it though, with wonderful food and Pol Roger champagne provided) - they serve breakfast till 2pm on Sat and Sun !

Room Tip: They only have 3 levels so the floor level doesn't make huge difference. Rooms on the ring will...

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED The Palais Hansen Kempinski Hotel in Vienna. It was comfortable, refined, and the service was impeccable. From beginning to end, all of the personnel was professional, most helpful, courteous, and genuinely interested in their guests. The breakfasts were great, too! I had the best birthday ever!
The location of the hotel was perfect. Close to some beautiful areas but on a peaceful street.
The room was huge and beautifully appointed and lacked nothing.
I would stay here again in a second. I look forward to returning. Thanks to the staff for a lovely time!

I recently stayed at the Palais Hansen Kempinski on two occasions.
The hotel is located on the Schottenring in the heart of Vienna, a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city in a quieter location, but still in easy walking distance of the center of the city.
The building has been outfitted with all the modern conveniences while keeping the palatial facade of the past.
The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, bathrooms feature touch buttons for shower and bath and everything in the room can be controlled with an iPad. The breakfast is excellent and the buffet presents a great variety of delicious breakfast items.

The lobby is pleasant and a great place for meetings, a cup of coffee and a piece of cake.
The service throughout the hotel was excellent and I have to pay a special compliment to the concierges who took care of any and every request with great speed and competence and always a friendly smile.

I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Vienna and a find a charming place of traditional Austrian hospitality with modern technological gadgets to make your stay a very pleasant experience.

Stayed in Palais Hansen two days with three teenage children. The driver was already waiting at the airport and was easy to find. The spotless car was parked just outside and our driver gave us much information in English. Reception in the hotel was very friendly and went smoothly. The atmosphere is calm and you immediately feel at home in the light lobby.
The rooms are big as are the bathrooms. Everything is of a very high quality with state of the art domotics. The rooms are quiet and the beds are excellent. The restaurant serves nice dishes and the breakfast buffet is displayed beautifully. There are many healthy items available as well as many different juices (carrot, cucumber etc.). Most important fact is that all employees are very friendly and give you the feeling you are a personal guest.
