“Exceptional Service, Absolute Luxury”

The Ritze in Vienna is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. From the second you walk in the door, you are greeted by a warm and friendly staff. By the first evening, they knew my family's name. The receptionists and concierge were incredibly helpful and amiable. The manager of the club loung, Lusy, takes service to a new level. She is sweet and lovely and goes to great lengths to make sure every guest has an exceptional experience. The lounge itself is also quite wonderful, with delicious tidbits and drinks 24/7. The lounge's breakfast was also scrumptious!

The bedroom, while not huge, was spotless and beautifully decorated. The bed was amazingy comfortable. The bathroom was very large and had heated floors.

The hotel restaurant, District, was also phenomenal. Incredible food and service.

Honestly, the Ritz Vienna treated my family like kings. It was the most luxurious and wonderful hospitality experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Vienna. I look forward to returning.

To start with the massive positives: this is a lovely hotel - beautifully designed and with wonderful rooms. Especially great bathrooms with every facility imaginable including heated floors. And the hotel's in an excellent location, marking a welcome addition to Vienna's choice of accommodation. There are some good deals available too, so the cost wasn't stratospheric.

A couple of quibbles: despite being booked at the same time by the same agent, the two rooms allocated were initially very different - one upgraded and one not. The hotel put this right when I raised it but it was quite a discrepancy which they put down to a "lucky" upgrade and the fact the bookings had been separated. (The booking deal was actually based on likely upgrades for both.) Anyway, this ended satisfactorily and I'd strongly recommend the corner executive suites.

The other issue is this is another hotel with a fetish for locking shut its windows, which mean you have to rely on slightly complicated air conditioning controls - and you can't simply get some fresh air into the room. Since the hotel is in a fantastic range of old buildings, it seems a shame they couldn't stick with tradition and allow windows to be opened in the way they have been for some centuries...

But to end with another positive: yes, some of the service reflects the newness of the hotel and it's probably not as corporately smooth as some Ritz Carltons. But personally I found this refreshing and quite endearing, and it added to the success of the stay.

Room Tip: Upgrades are worth it. Ask for an opening window.

I live in Vienna and love hot chocolate so I had to try their special hot chocolate about which I read when the hotel opened recently. The signature hot chocolate is not on their menu, you have to ask for it.
I must say that this was the best hot chocolate I have had in Vienna and it easily beats that served at all the famous Cafés and patisseries. It's real melted high-quality chocolate, thick and served with hot milk and whipped cream. You get a sampler of three variations of little chocolate bits (all 72% cocoa, so you really taste the different variations) and you choose which one you want to have melted.
The poppyseed and rasperry cake I had with my chocolate was fine but a bit dried out on the edges and unlike the chocolate, you can get a similar or better cake at good Viennese patisseries.
The atmosphere at the lounge (called Melounge) was very nice, there was a duo of guitar and cello playing live and very well. Service was excellent.
The price of € 12,- for the hot chocolate is very high for Viennese standards and even in Milan (which is where I've found a comparable hot chocolate) it's a bit cheaper. On the other side, you also pay for the music and you just can't find similar hot chocolate elsewhere in Vienna. To be fair, the standard hot chocolate on the menu is only € 4,50.
I'll be back for the hot chocolate and to try their signature chocolate Kaiserschmarrn...

We went here for dinner on Xmas eve and it was immaculate. Food was outstanding, service excellent too. Very expensive but that's what you get on Xmas eve, and it was worth the 10/10 time we had. Can't comment on the hotel but the restaurant is highly recommended.

This is without doubt the best hotel I have stayed in in Vienna. I like it much more than the Sacher, Imperial, Bristol, SAS Palace or Intercontinental. The rooms are great and have wonderful generous bathrooms. The staff are really exceptional. I have stayed 3 times now and each time they have made me very comfortable - the last time they have me a complimentary salad plate, bottle of wine and jug of coffee when I arrived from the airport.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights from 6th to 9th of Dec. Location is superb. The conversion from an old bank has been really well done.

Our room was large, well equipped, immaculate and unusually for a Ritz modern. I loved the decor - it's a nice change from the typical R-C look & feel.

Front office team and Concierge team were excellent.

What does need some attention is the breakfast and breakfast service. On the Sat morning it was atrocious - staff could not cope and it felt far from a €500 a night hotel breakfast experience. On the Sun we elected to avoid the chaos in the Restaurant and had breakfast in the Lobby Lounge that they use for overflow. The range of food was not as wide as the breakfast in the restaurant (and even that is frugal in comparison with other Viennese hotels). I asked for a pineapple juice and it was canned or carton! Couldn't drink it...

Overall I highly recommend the hotel. It's a great addition to the Vienna hotel scene but just suggest they review their frenetic and sub standard breakfast service. Just takes the shine off an otherwise beautiful property.

I spent three nights here in early December. The excellent reviews given on this site are deserved. It is a superb hotel with comfortable rooms, great service and nice atmosphere. Some comment that the decor isn't "ritzy" enough. I thought the interior design was fresh and modern - Jugendstil for the new century.

The entire hotel is non-smoking except the bar. I completely understand that smoking etiquette is different in much of Europe compared to the US. I also greatly admire European culture and customs, but smoking in public spaces is disgusting. Please, please make the bar smoke-free. It is a space with gemuetlichkeit (however that translates - coziness?) and I tried to enjoy a drink there before dinner but it was like swimming in an ashtray.
