Suite Hotel 900 m zur Oper
Ranked #14 of 117 Vienna B&B and Inns
Reviewed January 31, 2013

We stayed on the first floor and more than happy. Location is very nice (900m to the Opera and trams are cvery close) and room is clean, have nice bathroom, lots of power sockets everywhere. There is small kitchen zone with electric pot microwave.

Room is medium size, not a big one but have a necessary space for one person and a table with chair plus a seating area.

Breakfast is nice and we have free wifi in the rooms, working perfectly.

I must say I paid about $50 for the night and for this kind of price it is a gem. My review would be different for higher price.

Room Tip: Some rooms must have windows looking on the street with trams, so beware if it is matter. Ask for th...

I stayed at this hotel as part of group of 14 on a business trip and therefore it was booked by a third party for us. I had an en-suite double room which was small and compact which contained a small sink, microwave and kettle along with a mini bar. If I was comparing this room to a UK hotel then I would say it was very much like a Travel Lodge. The toilet was reasonable in size with a shower head over a bath tub. Showering was a bit awkward as the shower head pointed towards a panel on the side of the bath which meant standing under the shower flow difficult. The restaurant area was clean and well maintained but small in size. We were only B&B so did not have any evening meals so can't comment on main food. Breakfast was basic continental but choice of fruits, bread, ceral etc was good so no complaints from our group. The hotel is situated a little bit out of main centre however there are a good amount of shops near buy many of which are not mainstream so good if you are looking to pick up something different. The hotel also sits on a main tram line so transport into main centre not difficult. The only downside is that the trams can be noisy so this has an impact on front facing rooms, my room was to the rear so no problems for me. We were due to stay in this hotel for 4 nights however this was cut short to 2 when one of our party woke up in the middle of the 2nd night to find a bug investation in his bed. He did collect a few of these into to a plastic container which I saw, they were red in colour and beatle like. Not sure if these bugs were actually feeding on my colleagues blood but there were signs of blood on his bed sheets which I can only describe as being like a man who had cut his face in several places and then pressed the sheet against their face, It appeared that this was not the first time the hotel had come accross this problem. Needless to say we decided to leave and find another hotel. Even without the bug problem I wouldn't go back.

Room Tip: If you still want to go here I would look to have a room at the rear.

This hotel has a very good position, between Naschmarkt on the west and Belvedere palace on the east with city old town toward north, all in walking distance. You can walk to Musikverein, Theater an der Wien or State Opera, if you like concerts or opera. The hotel is comfortable and clean. It was very good to have apliances to make a tee or coffee in the room, and microwave oven. I stayed in the suite. The only one minus for me was that my room was orieneted toward the main street and frequent tram traffic was a little bit too noisy. But at night the traffic seemed to stop, so nevertheless I slept well.

By Viennese standards, this is an old and tired hotel. This becomes evident as soon as you enter the lift (or facsimile thereof)!! If you are above average height, avoid the top floor like the plague! The roofline is steeply pitched with a very low ceiling, and bumping your head on sharp corners, is a regular obstacle course (particularly in the middle of the night when you need to "go")! Apart from being relatively central, it really has nothing else going for it. Would not stay here again. Rooms are very small. Better value places if you take the time to research.

Room Tip: If you are unlucky enough to get a room on the top floor, buy a safety helmet from the hardware stor...

Pro: Good location regarding the city center. Our Junior suite with 2 rooms proved very good, especially if you've a baby and you have to work next day - I recommend it. Good breakfast and reception employees.

Cons: No well maintained and look after Baths amenities - shaky shower rack and mainly worn-out towels. With summery weather, we had to use quilt at night instead of a sheet with a light blanket, if needed.! the use of Internet it is charged - unacceptable in our days. However No WiFi in rooms; you had to go to the reception area to use it.!

It needs slight improvements and a little better room-rates to become first choice hotel.

Very clean, nice and warm personnel, quite good buffet breakfast. I had a suite with a small kitchenette (microwave oven, electric kettle, sink, coffee machine, fridge), a large bathroom, a large bed and a sofa. Sometimes the noise of the street could be annoying (if you sleep with the windows opened) but there are soundproof windows. The building dates from 18'Th century but it has a "modern touch" inside (modern elevator, internet, cozy eating place, modern furniture, good quality carpets). It's close (2 tram stops) to Karlsplaz subway station. I forgot... there is air conditioning too. There is very close a Billa supermarket opened Mo-Su 6am-9pm.
