Suite Hotel 900 m zur Oper
Ranked #20 of 115 Vienna B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 2, 2011

We stayed here in the end of July. We had a doube room with a kitchenette but no balcony. It was really spacious, with a desk and a big wardrobe to pack our clothes into. The room was facing the street and indeed it was a bit noisí even at night, but with the windows closed and the air conditioner operating, we could sleep. In the kitchenette we could find some instant coffee, tea, sugar, glasses, a kettle, and the minibar full of drinks and a small piece of chocolate. In the bathroom there were nail files, liquid and normal soap as well. The staff was really helpful, we could purchase our Vienna Cards at the reception, and even the chambermaid spoke a pretty good English.
The hotel has a really good location, there is a Billa really close by, as well as the tram stop, some pretty good restaurants, and the Oper is also within walking distance.
The breakfast was really excellent and there was a wide variety of cheese (some French specialties as well), coldcuts, scrambled eggs, Frankfurter, 4 types of juice, yogur (natural and of fruit as well), hpt and cold milk, several different types of bread, 4 kinds of cereals, fruits, and at least 4 types of cakes. One cannot try everything one day as there are so many varieties; everyone can find the best food for him/herself.
I would warmly recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to stay in a cheap, clean B&B hotel with excellent staff and perfect location. Next time we go to Vienna, I'm sure we'll stay here again.
Oh, one small thing. When we arrived, they didn't have space to us in their own yard for the car, so we had to carry the car to a garage close by. It closes at 6 pm on Saturday and is closed all day on Sunday, so pay attention to bring your car before 6 pm on Saturday if you only go for the weekend. You can leave the car before the hotel without having to pay for the parking from Saturday afternoon onwards.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the street are a bit noisy, so if you are asked where you want to go, ask for one f...

We booked for three nights, but as my husband ended up in hospita, I stayed for just over two weeks. The English speaking staff were more than helpful giving me advise on transport,, places to visit, how to get performance tickets, and the best gelato shops in town. Breakfast was in the sunny M.I.R.O resteraunt on the ground floor, seating outside or inside. The usual European mix of food in a lovely atmosphere. Various locals also came in with their newspapers before work for breakfast. . Noise of the trams didn't bother me if I shut the window, the airconditioning worked for me in that case. I usually left the window open. Having a small kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink, tea making facilities, was very usefull. Walking distance from the center, or tram.

Room Tip: Our room was on the top floor facing the street with trams. Quieter rooms at the back.

I went to Vienna last year with my family and this hotel is in a great location and was perfect for our trip. The breakfast in the lobby cafe is included and offers a variety. Heads up: you give them your room key when you leave for the day and pick it back up when you return. I left stuff out around the room and NEVER had a problem with anything going missing. The staff is very courteous and helpful. There is a common computer in the lobby should you need one and they charge for wifi in the room, but it is a very reasonable price. We walked to the the center of Vienna on several occasions. There are several great restaurants and shops around the hotel. My brother and I enjoyed the Irish Pub a block away and around the corner "Four Bells"

This hotel was originally picked by chance, but we have stayed there everytime we have visited Wien since then, which is a few. OK, it a little walk to get to the City centre (900m to Ringstrasse and the Staatsoper), but you may need this walk after a piece of Sachertorte, a fat-fried Longo, a cup or two of Glühwein, a Leberkäse roll or a Wienerschnitzel Wiener size (= huge!). And by the way: Don't miss the Gulasch at the restaurant Wiener Wirtschaft across the street.
Along the way to the hotel, you'll cross the famous Karlsplatz with the beautiful Karlskirche at one end and the interessting Secession building at the other. If you find the distance a little too long, there is a tram stop next to the hotel, and the tram line goes straight to the Oper. If you are a light sleeper, the tram may cause some noise in the morning, but if you keep the windows shut, this shouldn't give you much problems.
If you go off-season, you may be lucky to get your room choice upgraded, the only draw-back is the lack of air conditioning, which is a little pity as Wien can get very hot during summer months.
Breakfast has been very good, though not fully up to four-star standard as you only get normal coffee (this may have changed). The very broad selection of pastry, salats, fresh fruit, ham, cheese etc. compensates for this, and the breakfast staff, as the entire staff, works hard and are very friendly and helpful.
We recommend this place and would absolutely stay here the next time we are in Wien.
