“Wish I had time to sit in cafe and see museum”
Review of Hundertwasserhaus

Hundertwasserhaus
Ranked #68 of 775 things to do in Vienna
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 8, 2014

I have stopped here with tours multiple times and have always enjoyed seeing the unique Hundertwasserhaus. Unfortunately, the 20 minute stops have always been too rushed for me. It would be nice to really wander around the site and take it all in slower. I don't like comparing Hundertwasserhaus to Gaudi as several reviewers have...I have seen the architecture of both and enjoyed both.

When we visited in May 2014 the house was not in good shape - overgrown by trees on the balconies and need a lick of paint. A crowd of tourists outside, and you cannot even entry the yard - generally people live there and annoyed by us, disturbing them. It is difficult to get to the house by public transport -although the tram stop back to centre is next to the house. But not to be in harry to take the tram - go to nearby Hundertwasser museum instead - walk the interiors, see the models of the fairytales projects, have a lunch in the cafe with uneven floor - or in the garden, admiring back facade - and feel the man behind all these.

Just like Casa Batlló in Barcelona, this is a must see. It is so colorful, loved it.
We walked from the subway station, but there are trams passing close by as well...

We visited the museum when we were in Vienna. I am thrilled with the art and the artist. Truly something special to experience - the whole house is an exhibit!

This is a very cool theory of design and a sight to behold. However, what you really want to do is feel, and you cannot tour the houses.

Being out of the city, it is a bit of a walk to take a few photos and buy and postcard. The cafe next door was completely empty and not in the same design.

We didn't continue on to the museum as it was even further.
