Whatever you want you can find it at Meinl am Graben. If you need a cold water for refreshment you can find a great water from every contry by meinl am graben. It's also perfect to take a fish. The product range is awesome, but only the price is a little bit expensive. All in all we think, it is the greatest and legendariest shop in the whole country

Fancy food shop with foods from all over the world. Beautiful displays and wonderful assortment of products. Restaurant on second floor is also worth a visit.

We love food emporiums like this, however, it was just like a Dean and Deluca's for those of you that live in the states. There was not much prepared food ...and does not even compare to KaDaWe in Berlin. It's worth a stop-in if you are in the area.

This is everything a world-class food emporium should be. The food displays are awesome, the quality is top of the line, the wine selections are great - especially the Austrian wines on offer ... (and check out the cool wine cellar with the dusty old bottles as you descend the stairs.) It has great eating places from cafe, restaurant, ice cream stand. And now the best thing about shopping at Julius Meinl's - it's not pretentious at all ... or even really over-priced. In fact people from all walks of life shop here - not just the food snobs or upper-income fortunates.

And an interesting side note - Did you know that Julius Meinl's was the world's first chain food store/restaurant?? It set up branches offering its famous coffee and other Austrian snacks in the train stations of the Austrian Empire in the mid-1800s ... more than a century before McDonalds or Starbucks came on the scene.

This famous food store, in a splendid position at the far end of the Graben as you walk down from the Stephansdom, is an absolute delight. Whether it is the coffee bar on the ground floor, the fine restaurant overlooking the Graben, and the oyster bar on the first floor, the fruit and vegetable display, the jams and honeys, the Christmas puddings in December, the vast array of fine wines, the cheeses, the Speck and the San Daniele Schinken, the bakery counter with the tasty bread and Viennese pastries, the little red Julius Meinl espresso cups - everything is done with such style and care and good taste that it is hard to resist all those tempting displays and special gifts. We have been shopping here for years and always come out with a much lighter wallet, a wonderful selection of fresh food and wines, and a feeling that nothing at all will be wasted and that it won't be long before we are back again. Without Julius Meinl am Graben, Vienna would not be Vienna.
