“Great hotel experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2011

Loved everything about this hotel! Checked in late having had issues with a lost bag at Vienna airport. Updated to an amazing room on the 8th floor. Free mini bar/ coffee set up was a great amenity- water, juices, and beer!
Concierge staff was the most helpful! They took full responsibility for contacting the airlines and helping to facilitate the retrieval of the lost bag so that we could enjoy the sights. Loved Doreen, Sebastian and Julian.
Location was right in walking distance of major sights and transportation.
Restaurants were very expensive and found cafes for breakfast down the Ringstrasse.
Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Vienna. Maybe a little too sophisticated for families with small children.

Room Tip: Used Starwood Points and was upgraded to a large room with 2 bathrooms.

I travel quite a bit and have stayed in a lot of hotels and this one is by far one of the nicest at which I've ever stayed. I loved the modern design, the art in the lobby and the lightning in the elevator. Every time I rode the elevator, I felt like I was part of some hip, indie movie. The room was very nice as well, big and comfortable, ample lighting and nice views, with an amazing shower and a huge bathtub. Also, free coffee and tea and a mini-bar with water, Coke, Diet Coke, a few bottle of juice and beer. They restocked it daily.

The location is perfect. Easy to get to using public transportation. Take the airport train into the city, then the metro to Karlsplatz. The hotel is a block away. The Opera house is practically across the street. Lots of sights within walking distance. I walked to just about everywhere from there, it's such a nice area and Vienna is such a nice city with so much to see.

Also most of the people working there were very friendly and helpful.

My only issue was that the TV in my room didn't work. I mentioned this to hotel after the first night, but they were never able to repair it. At first it didn't bother me, but a few days into my trip, there were some pretty big news events happening (I'm a former journalist and something of a recovering news junkie) so I felt a little isolated not being able to watch the news.

Overall though, I loved this place. Being that the weather was kind of yucky when I was there, I sort of wanted to just hang out in my room -- I didn't because there's so much to see in Vienna -- but I did very much look forward to returning to my room at the end of each day of sightseeing.

Stayed here with a buddy on a trip through Europe. Upon arrival they upgraded me to a nice big room overlooking the Opernring with a balcony. Pretty sweet. Room was spacious, very tall ceilings and an awesome bathroom replete with the awesomest shower I've ever had the pleasure of using (3 nozzles!).

Not sure if this is common, but they offered free wifi which is so unbelievably rare these days it's just sad. That was helpful for plotting our days out and finding various locations on Google maps. The restaurants in the hotel are nice, but pricey, and there are many in the area. The location absolutely cannot be beaten, it's close to everything you want to see and across the street from a Metro stop. Also pretty close the Danube - if you're in Vienna when it's warm, head down to the river to sit on one of their manmade beaches and have a drink at one of the beach bars - pretty cool.

The staff were helpful, the hotel clean and easy to get to from the train station. Not much more I could ask for... I had a small snafu with the front desk about my room being moved, but that was due to the whole points one night, full pay next night thing - starwood seems to always screw that one up. The manager was gracious and kept us in the same room, which they didn't have to do. Great place, I plan on returning.

We stayed for 4 nights in June at this modern artistic hotel located across from the Opera house on the Ringstrasse. Excellent location for seeing the sights!
Walk to the Hofburg Palace, Stephansplatz, Karlsplatz, Naschmarkt, Museum quarter and the major shopping streets. Metro station and tram stop just steps from the hotel.
The room was very clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and furniture. Free Mini bar with 2 beers, cokes, juice and water refilled everyday.
The bathroom looks very nice, but be careful as the shower leaks water all over the floor, despite the heavy glass door. To remedy the situation lay towels down outside of the shower door to absorb the water. The hotel really needs to address this problem as many people have complained.
Cool lighting in the elevator and you will hear different animal jungle sounds playing the background, as well as the entrances while you’re in them.
Great pool, hot tub and fitness facilities which are shared with a health club located in the lower level of the hotel. No breakfast was included in the regular rate, but there are many cafes nearby.
All restaurants in old town are a 5-10 minute walk and be sure to try Zanoni & Zanoni gelateria just up the street.
Overall this is a great hotel in a fantastic location.

Le Meridien is is an ideal base for accessing Vienna's many delights. we enjoyed walking to the Museum Quarter, the Albertina Collection, Palmenhaus, Opera House, and many other highlights nearby, and the easy access by tram to the Belvedere and Lichteinstein Museums. Rooms are confortabkle, modern and well designed, and the ever-stocked fridge was a definite plus.

Room Tip: try to avoid rooms above the livelyt bar

This was our second stay at the Meridien, our last being 6 years ago, and we were impressed how well the hotel has been maintained. The Meridien is in an outstanding location near the Opera House, the Hapsburg Palace and the central shopping area. Cafes and restaurants abound as well as the stunning vistas of Vienna all wtihin blocks. With the hotel's strong identity as an "art hotel", it hosts a variety of art exhibits. I wish more of them were new as all the lobby "work" is now quite old. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that is not comfortable with the modern feel of the hotel. In particular, the bathrooms are shielded only by shaded glass to the room, and there is no barrier for noise between the bedroom and the bathroom. The rest of the hotel is silent -- you hear nothing from neighboring rooms or upstairs. Concierge services exemplary and front desk also very helpful. They could market their restaurant, pool, exercise room and bar better. We were there 5 days and did not really know what services were at the hotel. Also, take a look at the shower drainage folks -- both of our rooms almost flooded!
