The staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms were spacious and well designed with luxury bathrooms. The breakfast was excellent but the breakfast area was marginally adequate. Though it was not near the center of the city the transportation was very good and it was very easy to get there.

The hotel is located in Grinzing - a more rural part of Vienna with many local wine yards ("Heuregen").
They also produce their own wines, one can buy them directly from the room.

The room was very spacious for a "standard room", and well furnished.

When the windows look on the street, it can be a bit noisy.
In the morning on working days, relatively large amount of car passes by, going towards Vienna city center.

The breakfast assortment is adequate, it also includes typical foods they serve at Heurigens.

Very pleasant hotel with good room and outside the city centre so easy for access by car but on a simple bus/metro route into the city. Staff extremely helpful which meant we managed to get to see a concert which otherwise would not have been possible. Many thanks. Breakfast excellent. Wine garden just down the road was great value and very charming.

The hotel has only 2 bed rooms!!! The 3, 4 bed rooms and the only apartment have expellable emergency beds.
We tried to book the apartment and got a booking to a 4 bed room. This was actually a simple double room, with an expelled sofa, suitable for two small children. For our two teenagers it was unacceptable small and uncomfortable. The sleep on it was a punishment.
Our 3rd son is under 6 years, theoretically free of charge. We asked pillow and blanket for him, which resulted, that they forced us to pay the price of a 5 bed room!!!!!
(By the way, the pillows are extreme small.)
The room faced to a huge grey wall, about two meters away from the window. From the dark room we could see only this grey wall.
The “wellness oasis” is an alibi. Funnily small, the shower fungal infected, the recreation area is two chairs in a windowless cellar.
If you could not find the receptionist in this non smoker hotel, you can find her somewhere outside just smoking.

When I complained, they told me, they believe, in a four star hotel it is normal to pay the price of a 5 bed room if you stay in a double room with a tiny sofa, it is normal that you can see from the windows only a grey wall. It is normal that the booking system direct you form the reservation of an apartment to a double room with sofa, without calling the attention to the change.

I really do hope this is normal only for Hotel Schild and not for all Austrian hotel as they stated.

Booked a cot through Expedia but they did not arrange it, the hotel rang round and found us one when they did not have one available as they did not know about it.
A single room was booked for sister by Expedia but was supposed to be a double which the hotel upgraded instantly.
Reception staff were very helpful, speaking perfect English and even helped out ordering a take away from a German website explaining what everything was.
Rooms, bathrooms clean and good size.
Breakfast was varied and plentiful.
All in all would definately go back, very nice New Years venue and also got a little cake as a thank you for staying there over New Years (nice little touch) but would book direct not through Expedia next time.

We just stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Schild after coming off a 12-night river cruise from Amsterdam to Vienna. Although it is not down town, it was easy to reach everywhere by taking the 35A bus then the underground. It cost us 31 euros for a taxi to the aiport. The staff were very helpful and we had a lovely large room with a balcony. Breakfast was buffet style with lots of choices. We can really recommend this hotel.
