“Wonderful apartment and location with a VERY ACCOMMODATING owner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2010

The apartment at 6 Muhlgasse, apartment 18, was an excellent apartment. My wife met me in Vienna for what was supposed to be 5 days after a business trip. We became stranded in Vienna due to the volcanic ash from Iceland. Mr. V, the owner, was extremely accommodating and allowed us to stay an additional week and check out early if flights resumed. Since we were in Vienna for 12 days at the apartment, we were able to explore everything. We couldn't have been happier with our little apartment. The full kitchen enabled us to cook fresh foods from the local Naschmarket. The washer/dryer was great since we were stuck and the wireless enabled me to work remotely. Thanks Mr. V. for your understanding and accommodating our needs. I highly recommend this location.

We had a wonderful time here. As others have noted, great location. Shopping for food at Naschmarket was delightful. It also has great little cafes and kiosks. It's a 5-10 minute walk to Museum Quarter.

The owners were great, especially in their communication & flexibility. We were traveling with our 2 sons (in their 20s). The fiancée of one was not sure until the last minute she could make it. Luckily, when she found out she could come, we were able to rent a separate studio for more space. On the last day, our train was not leaving until the afternoon and since one unit was not rented that night, they allowed us to stay with our bags past usual checkout.

The apartments (14 and 17) were clean and comfortable. Internet was great--they even provide a computer! Kitchen in 14 was well-appointed. Dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, hairdryer, flat screen TV. Everyone thought the beds were comfortable.

We asked the daughter, who checked us in, for restaurant recommendations. She recommended the Turkish restaurant on the corner Kabab Haus, and it was excellent. Well prepared and high quality. Then, Austrian food, she suggested one down the street. (I forget the name, it started with A.) it had very good wiener schnitzel, goulash and beer.

The entrance is plain (who cares?) and the elevator is small.

Overall, we highly recommend.

Central Apartments Vienna appears to be a family run business. We took the studio apartment (Apt 17) on the 6th floor (there is a small but perfectly functional lift). From the street, this appears to be an unpromising start to your holiday, but appearances can be deceiving. This was a comfortably furnished studio apartment, with newish well maintained furniture. The apartment was small but practically furnished, with sufficient storage and well designed interior. Furnishings were IKEA styled, but nothing wrong with that! The kitchenette was small (one person standing room only!) but surprisingly well furnished - fridge-freezer, dishwasher, gas hob, electric convectional oven, toaster, coffee maker and even a mini blender! Pots and pans were sufficient and good quality, and those who plan on doing a gourmet feast will find a set of (slightly blunt!) knives and scissors. When we arrived, there was salt, pepper, dish washing liquid and various sponges provided - though I don't really know if this is standard fare. In the living room area, there was a flatscreen TV, DVD / CD player, and a chaise-lounge with small armchair. The bathroom was small but spotlessly clean, with a lovely "rainfall effect" shower and plenty of hot water, and a heated towel rail. There is a washer/dryer provided in the bathroom, and towels. Our understanding is that for stays longer than a week, there is a weekly cleaning service provided, but you have to pay for anything more frequent. The entire apartment was spanking clean, comfortable and well-planned for a short-break stay. There was no view from the apartment (at least, none worth speaking about!) but on the plus side, it was very quiet. Just occasionally you can make out the sound of the lift pulleys, moving.
There was wireless internet access, and even a computer provided for email and surfing.
The apartment is located in the south of the city, just outside of the Ringstrasse area. The nearest U bahn is Karlsplatz (about 5 minutes walk away) and really you can make the city centre (Stepahnsdoms cathedral) within 15-20 mins walk, if you are so inclined. The apt is also pretty close to the museum quarter and the Hofburg palace, and the Vienna Opera House. All within walking distance, although you can also take trams and U bahn, if you prefer.
Just around the corner, there is a Billa supermarket and you are also within stones throw of the Nachtsmarket selling all manner of foods, vegetables, fruits, cheese, artisan vinegars and breads to furnish your self-catering apartment. There are several larger Billa supermarkets close around with slightly more choice in food, so it may pay to wander around the district a little.
All in all, I don't think we could have asked for more (except possibly a knife sharpener?!!) - really a convenient location, excellent standards of service, and friendly owners. Highly recommended.

Our two sons are teaching in Asia and Austria. We had not seen them or been together as a family for two years. Vienna was the best meeting place. US $ vs Euro was not good. We could not afford standard hotels and then eat out 3 meals each day. Public transportation was a must. Central Apartments Vienna was a great find. Both boys had their own beds and room with wi-fi and tv while my wife and I had our own bedroom. Beds were comfy. Kitchen and laundry facilities in the room saved us a lot of money as we stayed a week and then at the end of our month in eastern europe we called Voshmiger back and he put us up for another 3 nights. There is a grocery store/market around the corner so you can get all the food your family needs and make all your meals in the nicely equipped kitchen. Metro was as advertised, 3-5 min. walk away. There is cheaper lodging further away but CAV had the best location and facilities to service our important family gathering. Marco Island, Florida

Stayed at the Central Apartments Vienna - no 6. for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The apartments are very clean, warm, and well appointed containing everything you could possibly need. Booking was very straightforward and even though we arrived at lunchtime, we were able to get straight into our apartment. The managers were very welcoming, taking the time to point out local landmarks and attractions. Having a pc and internet access in the room is also a real bonus
However, it is the location which is the real attraction. Although the building itself is quite plain from the outside, it is just around the corner from the Nachsmarkt with all of it food stalls and restaurants and very easy walking distance from everything in Central Vienna. As it is in very close proximity to Karlsplatz, even getting to Schonnbrun Palace on the U4 tube was a breeze. We only bought a travel card on one day as we were able to walk everywhere else - but it was very sunny for February.

A very spacious and comfortable apartment with the added bonus of free internet use. More lik staying in someones home rather than a purpose - built apartment. Excellent central location, close to the underground which you're going to have to use if you want to see everthing - it's a huge city. Excellent restaurants very close by but they are small so book in advance.
