Although small, the room is fine. This is not the place to stay, though, if you like to go out at night and get up around 9:00 or 9:30am. Three times when I was getting ready in the morning, the cleaning staff tried to come in to empty the garbage and "fluff" the sandpaper towels (I swear one I cut myself on one of them), once as early as 10:05!! This is not the place to have a lie-in while on vacation. (I ended up stealing a "Do not disturb/Bitte nicht stoeren" door tag from a hotel in Switzerland before I returned to Hargita for my last two days in Vienna, prior to my flight!!)

Excellent value in a very expensive city. We found our room to be clean, comfortable & quiet (though it was rainy and cold when we were there so the window was closed most of the time).

Skip the €5 breakfast and head down to Cafe Ritter a block or two toward the centre (be prepared for a smokey haze) or the market which is also close by.

Very handy to the underground but a bit of a walk to the main sights (take the underground). There is also an English language cinema nearby should you be at a loose end one rainy evening.

Set your expectations at an appropriate level and you are less likely to be disappointed - this is a small, cheap pension with it's quirks (stairs & tiny, rough towels) in a good location.

My husband and I stayed here in June 2006.

Pros:
The staff is friendly. It is clean. It is very close to the subway, and close enough to walk into downtown Vienna. The price is great. The rooms seemed secure; it took 3 keys to get from outside to our room.

Cons:
No elevator. You have to pay for breakfast (5 Euro, I think -- we passed.) The room was very hot if the windows were closed, but very loud (on a busy street) if they were open. I kept thinking it would be so nice to have a fan, which would have provided circulation and background noise.

Other:
Be prepared to pay in Euros upon arrival.

Totally clean and quiet. Close to major streets and subway lines. Small room, but a good value for the price. Am a light sleeper but had no problem here!

The Pension Hargita is a good value in expensive Vienna. It is just off the main shopping street off the historical town center. The walk to the museum area is a long one. One of the best things about the hotel however is the close proximity to a subway stop. The subway system is fantastic! Use it immediately on your first day and you'll never walk the distance to the museum again. The Pension is 1/2 block off a major shopping street in Vienna....however the shopping isn't that great. The street does have an edge to it during the day and at night is pretty empty. I did not feel threatened at all walking around at night ....even on the side streets.

The rooms are normal size. My brother, sister, and I were a bit cramped. The rooms are clean, beds are in good shape, the staff is friendly, and the manager speaks english well. No elevator. Parking ramps are available closeby.

Overall a good value in Vienna with a good location if the subway is used.....otherwise it's a bit far out and you'll be tired by the time you get to the museum area after your first day.

Overall a nice place to stay. Rooms are bright and clean and bed is comfortable. Rooms a bit narrow though. Bathroom very good. No lift so can be a bit arkward if staying on top floors. Good 30min walk from very centre of Vienna, but has a metro stop right outside the front door which was very helpful. Can be a bit hot/noisy in the summer months without any air-con. TV makes a bizarre popping noise.

Stayed here for 2 nights. It was somewhat cramped with 2 people, but very clean and the staff was very helpful. Great location to walk to the town center and most of the sites. Very reasonably priced. We would not stay there again if staying more than one night.
