I had to go to Viena for academic purposes, that's mean a cheap travel. The place is clean and relaxing. In your room you only have a bed, a desk and a place to wash your hands and teeth. Inside your room there's no a toilet neither a shower, so you have to go upstairs and take a shower. The shower is shared.

Maybe there's room with WC, but not mine.

The guy from the reception is really nice and helpful person. He gave a map and mark me all the important places to meet.

Its location is also very good because it's like three blocks away from the subway. The breakfast... well... it's no so good... really simple and it costs 5 euros.... really expensive.

Besides this, I would back, but only is I go alone or with some friend. With my wife I would find another place... something more romantic.

The wifi isn't free. The view from my room was fantastic. There's no room service. Breakfast is buffe style.

As a student living at he Porzellaneum in term time I would have to say that the current price (30 euros per night) is excellent value since it is extremely uncommon to get a private room at this price. Since i will recommend this place to visiting friends and have enjoyed living here I thought I should write a positive review.

The accommodation is basic but the rooms are clean and functional. Basically, exactly what I'd expect. In addition to this the hostel is in an excellent location, transport links are excellent and normal journey times are 10 minutes into the city or 20 to get out to some nice parks and forests in the 19th district.

As a functional no frills base to explore the city you wont do better, however those on a romantic getaway or business trip may want to consider spending a little more if elevators, double beds ect are a priority!

I was there for a conference and stayed there cause it was close to the university. I wouldn't stay there again. Toilets were smelly and communal showers provided no privacy. I was surprised by having towels tho.

This was one of my worst stay in a "hotel" ever!
At night it was very noisy because of drunk students who talked in the courtyard until approximately 3 am.
During the day it was very noisy because of the tram.

At first, i couldn't find the men showers until i realized i had to go to the upper floor.
The staff was extremly unfriendly and most of the time i couldn't find anyone at the reception.
The prize was not really high but still not worth it.

This converted dorm is clean and I slept well, but there were several downsides - (1) no elevator...the 6th floor was quite a long schlepp after a full day on the train (2) showers are in one large room with no partitions so one feel pretty exposed (3) internet is quite costly and very slow (4) lots of students drinking in the center courtyard late into the night. Would recommend only because it is cheap, clean and close to public transit - otherwise, it was a disappointment compared to other places I stayed during my month-long holiday in Europe.

I paid only 25euro for a single room, but it was worth more than that. It is a student accomodation, so everything was basic, but it was just enough. In the room, there were a big desk, a bed, a chest, a rubbish bin, and a hand washing basin. Stuffs were very friendly . The location was great as well. It was just 30seconds walk from a tram D stop, and in front of the stop, there was a supermaket. To the city centre, it was something like 10min by the tram.

Bad points were there was only one shower room on each floor. Actually there were 3 showers in the shower room, but the room had only one door, so practically, only one person could use the big shower room. It was inefficient. And it was very noisy in the rooms facing the tram line.

Overall, it's worth paying! I recommend this hostel.
