I have been staying here for business for the last three years and have always enjoyed the hotel. Very nice staff, efficient and friendly. The location is in a nondescript neighborhood but very few close to the Praterstern U barn, and so you can get to either the conference center or Stephansplatz in 20 minutes. Could be great for families due to proximity to Prater amusement park.

I was in Vienna on business for a couple of nights so needed easy access to both the exhibition centre and town centre. This hotel is in between the two on the U1 train line so you didn't have to change trains and it was in a very handy location. It is also only a few minutes walk from the train station which was convenient. The hotel staff were helpful and the room was very nice a spacious. The hotel was also quiet which was great. There is a large breakfast selection and free wifi at the hotel - perfect for a few nights' stay although if I was paying for the room myself, I would have stayed somewhere cheaper and nearer the main shopping street.

We stayed here from 17 - 20 February. Close to very efficient public transport links - to city centre and airport. The staff were all very helpful at all times and considerate when my wife felt unwell.
Room was comfortable but a bit too warm! No problem though - opening windows.

I often wonder if the reviews are of the same hotel when reading trip advisor.
Well we stayed here from 14th to the 17th of Feb 2013 and enjoyed our stay immensely.Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff everyone was so helpful, from our breakfast servers to receptionists,
Our room was a little too warm & we needed more pillows when we next returned to the hotel our requests had been promptly dealt with.
The local restaurants recommended at reception were very good. When they tell you the pizzas at "eatalico" restaurant are big believe them !!
Although the Hotel is not central the transport links are so near it is very quick to get anywhere you wish to go.We bought the 72hrs transport pass as we were over 65 we had concessions on all museum & art galleries otherwise the Vienna Pass would be good value.
We used trams & the underground and being selective saw all we wanted to see in the short time we had.We would stay here most certainly if we returned to Vienna. ps dont leave without trying the strudel at one of the coffee houses we went to the Museum cafe where they did strudel & coffee for €9. this is across the rd from the Secession house.
There is a train from Praterstern to the Vienna Airport S7 which costs €4 & takes about 25-30 mins.

Room Tip: we stayed in one of the Art Rooms.

We stayed at the hotel in January for one night stop on the way to the airport. Hotel was clean and was situated in a quiet area with good sleep quality. Metro is closeby and it is easy to get to the center. Garage downstairs.

I stayed here on a recent business trip. It is not in the centre of the city but was very convenient for the offices that I was visiting. It is close to the Praterstern station which the S-Bahn line 45 and U-Bahn (underground) lines U1 and U2 stop at. The centre of the city is only 3 stops away on the U1 line (about 5 minutes). Transfer to/from the international airport is east via the CAT (City - Airport express Train) and U-Bahn lines U4 and U1. Make sure you exit Praterstern station at the exit signed 'Heinestrasse' or you will be in for a much longer walk! My room was large and very clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good with a selection of cold and hot food and fruit etc. I would definitely stay here again.

A very hip and modern hotel...yes. But as you may be able to see the location is not ideal...but to some that may be OK given the public transportation. Just don't expect to walk out the hotel and have Vienna at its best. We had more of 2-3 star experience with service in the hotel despite what several may have said on Trip Advisor. We specifically had issues with the room and service over our 2 night stay in which the staff apologized and but did not resolve the problems after several requests. Also the bathroom smelled awful from the moment we arrived. The front end staff was less than helpful on a few occasions with recommendations for restaurants, attractions and other needs we had. For example many sights that they said were closed were actually open when we walked pass and vice-versa. Upon checking out on my insistance I asked for the General Manager, she was again apologetic and was kind enough later in the day to email me a $50 discount for my next stay---one that I won't use.

So bottom line issues with the room that we asked them to fix several times and were not addressed and less than stellar service than you would expect at a 4 star property. Stuff happens, and I know it is not so much what happens, but how it is handled. In the case of Der Wilhelmshof they did not step up when asked to remedy the actual problems. This is why I would not recommend this property and will not being stay there again.
