Austria Trend Hotel Ananas
Ranked #161 of 359 Hotels in Vienna
Reviewed January 19, 2013

We stayed 4 nights at the Ananas hotel and we are very satisfied. Despite the bad critics that i read at Tripadvisor, our stay was a pleasant surprise! Perfect location next to the U4, 2 stops from the center (Larlsplatz). Also next to the market Naschmarkt. Quiet room and area.Small but functional room, LCDtv, very good cleanliness, polite staff, comfortable beds. Negative were the unacceptable sliding bathroom door and the inexistence of coffee kettle.
Generally, it is a fair choice that i recommend!

After reading all the not so good reviews, when I was told that we are going to be staying in this hotel by our travel agent, I was a bit worried. Since we booked the hotels pretty late and traveling in a group of 20 pax, we don't have much choice when it's so close to Christmas.

The hotel lobby is pretty basic, lifts and hallway leading to the rooms could use some makeover.

We were all placed in the Deluxe room after I raised my concerns from the information I gathered here. Had to walk quite a few turns to reach our rooms. To our pleasant surprise, the Deluxe rooms are all newly renovated, all furnishings are new, wood flooring (good for people with Sinus problem like me, no carpet). Toilet looks modern but tiny. The shower area are all tiled up with dark grey tone although the size may be the same as those in other hotels where they all all clear glass shower, this gave us all a very claustrophobic feeling. Toilet door is just a frosted sliding glass door with a big gap and no locks, although you fully close the door, noise and view is still clear.

Room size is quite comfortable with 2 single beds (3.5" ) or a queen bed.

Service - not very friendly, hardly smile or greet their guests. Housekeeping was worse, they knocked on the door when I am still in the room, I called out, "who was it?", she didn't answer but instead just opened my room door. What if someone was changing?

Breakfast - The most basic that you can get, cereals, toast and croissant and fresh fruits (which are all mixed together instead of fresh individual piece). Won't really make you feel satisfied, but will fill you up.

Our tour guide was staying in the standard room. He said it was not as nice as the Deluxe where it is renovated.

Overall, the newly renovated part is the only highlight for this hotel. Other than that, can't say much.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask if the rooms are renovated.

This hotel is average in every way. I am writing this review to point out one issue which could make a stay very awkward. The door to the bathroom is a sliding door of clear glass. The walk in shower doors are also made of clear glass. The result is that everything done in the bathroom is visible from the room. And the full length mirror in the main part of the bedroom reflects the inside of the bathroom. This makes the hotel stay awkward depending on who you share the room with.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without a glass door to the bathroom. Rooms in the courtyard are quieter.

I was placed here by Austrian Airlines when I missed my connecting flight. The room was pretty basic: a bit dowdy, but fine. Internet wasn't included, although there was free WiFi in the lobby.

The restaurant was deserted when I got there (about 21:30) and I could see why when the food came. It could have been worse, but it was extremely bland and unremarkable.

I didn't pay anything so I can't judge based on value for money, and didn't use it as a base for sightseeing in the city: I was transferred in from the airport one evening and back to the airport early the next morning.

This is an unusual hotel. The common rooms and bar are of high quality, but the bedorrom are at best basic. the hotel is well sited and fine for one day trip but reallythe rooms would be considered too small for anything longer. There is a restaurant with staff that are officious and food that is basic at best. The hotel is probably good value for money - but that needs to be balanced with the negatives.

Room Tip: There are uypgraded rooms available. I did not see one but think this would be a sensible option he...

If you have the possibility to find another one do it!
The standard room is vey bad with a bed like in a ship, but at least it was clean!Bathroom very small with nothing special in it!Even the pillows are very bad and you have to ask for another one
The joke is that they are promoting the superior rooms in the hotel by advertising them!
Breakfast not good with no variaty and the coffee also not good, for sure breakfast for 3 stars
Menu served at the restaurant was ok but nothing special!
At the bar one drink( whiskey ) 9,40 euro very expensive, no service and no peanuts.
The emloyees at the reception were very polite and helpful

Room Tip: Vienna is glamourous so your hotel must be too and sure not this one

I spent a weekend in tnis hotel, it is excellent value for money and location is great, you dont have to use public transport to get to the city centre, everything is near. But if you wont, metro station is right in front of the hotel entrance. Breakfast was also very good.
