In december , it looks very nice. There is a big Christmas tree near the cathedral . Also a nice Christmas market. By night is more beautiful but go and visit it ,during the locals are on jobs because the place is not so crowded .Watch out at your pockets !

Whilst on a River Cruise we arrived in Vienna and were amazed
Stephansplatz appears to be the centre and was Buzzing- plenty of quality eateries tons of shops and an amazing atmosphere

Enjoy Stephanplatz and use it as your hub for city center trips. Take in St Stephens cathedral, grab a quick lunch or dinner or do some shopping. Everything within easy walking distance. Subway station right there too so even if staying outside of city center it is convenient.

The centre of Vienna's old town is always busy with a lot of tourist traffic. While it is nice and a "MUST SEE" for a tourist, the paved are remains hot in summer most of the time and there is little shade as well as not enough seating...

The dominant structure here is the Cathedral. A short distance away in one direction is Schwedenplatz with several tram stops. In the opposite direction there's a lengthy pedestrian street which is always busy and popular. In Stephansplatz there's an underground train station where there are free public toilets at the bottom of the steps. Shopping here is quite expensive and there are many annoying hawkers trying to sell tickets for various shows and visits. Be cautious and don't be conned.
