“Beautiful building, but hard to appreciate with scaffolding”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

We attended a really fantastic concert at St. Charles Church just after Christmas and I think that was the best way to experience this church. It's a lovely building, but there is scaffolding up the whole middle for the "panoramic lift" which means you can't see the vault from the ground. I'm not sure if the scaffolding and lift are permanent or part of a restoration effort, but hopefully it'll be removed some day.

“Perhaps the best example of Baroque architecture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

This church is amazing…it is booth majestic and intimate. Right now it is in the middle of a restoration and it is interesting to see how it is being done. You can take an elevator to the top of the dome and see the restoration work.
I thought this church was the most impressive and most interesting of all those in Vienna. Also, there is a wonderful presentation by the Vienna Classic Orchestra offered in the evenings.

“Don't pay for panorama lift!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

It promises an impressive view of the city from a 35m high dome... but the reality it's that you will climb a bunch of fragile stairs to come to an small dome, where windows are dirty and protected by barriers so you can't take a minimum quality picture.

Save time, energy and money and don't pay for this.

“Very nice church but don't fall for the concerts there ! Tourist trap !”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

Lovely church but please don't fall for the ultra tourist trap concerts there. Firstly we actually almost froze to death whilst watching an amazing violinist in a pink sweater and her cellist in a quilted jacket play a few well known pieces.
Very nice, very touristy, very disappointing...waste of money.

“Worth the Walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

It's a bit of a walk from anything else but totally worth it. We didn't go inside (8 euro!!! Seriously?!?!) but the outside is nice. There were remnants of a Christmas market so a little messy but it didn't detract from the awesomness that is the church!
