This was the only art museum we chose to go to in Vienna, mostly to see the 150 Year Klimt exhibit. It was well worth it. The building is beautiful and the art surprisingly varied.

If you're ever thinking of going to Vienna and you love art and design then this city is a must. The combination of 'Jugendstil' - the Austrian equivalent of Art Nouveau - the grand architecture of the Hapsburgs and the fabulous paintings of Gustav Klimt make this place so worth while. The Belvedere houses the largest collection of Klimt in the world - along with his protege Schiele - in a beautifully curated collection.

We visited it during the winter and it was impressive - must be even more so during summer! The art exhibition is really worth the time and money.

Even without seeing any art, Belvederve is worth visting forb the architecture, gardens and cafe (great tomato and coconut soup!). The Klimt exhibition was well curated, informative and truly lovely way to spend an afternoon learning more about this versatile artist.
