Small museum, but you can still easily spend 2 hours enjoying some very unique Monet and Picasso pieces. Worth the visit.

“Wonderful museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2014

We went for the art exhibit, and discovered a palace!
We thoroughly enjoyed the large rooms filled with much fine art and some classic masterpieces. Upon the conclusion of the art exhibit we were delighted to find we were in the Albertina palace!
Everyone enjoyed learning the history of this most amazing couple and of Albert's amazing vision.
It was a most enjoyable way to pass a dreary afternoon!

“Favorite museum experience in the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

Albertina was the last museum we visited on our trip (and we saw many) and jointly concluded that it was the most impressive. I am so glad that I saw the Monet bis Picasso posters around town and was intrigued enough to visit.

When in Vienna, it makes sense to be drawn to the venues that feature the locals so sure, going to the Belvedere, the Leopold Museum and Kunst Haus Wien to see Hundertwasser's work all make sense. But you'd be making a big mistake if you skipped the Albertina. The Monet to Picasso exhibit is truly impressive. It spans about 7 rooms, large ones, with many recognizable greats, but also a few lesser-known artists. I recommend getting the audio guide as it adds helpful information about numerous pieces.

If you still have energy left, do check out the rooms of the palace and its history. The marriage of Albert and Cristina (hence, Albertina) is an interesting story. The artistic collection they amassed is amazing. I wish I'd had more energy left to spend more time on that exhibition, it is so rich with wonderful pieces. I have no doubt that I will return to this museum in the future as there is clearly more there to experience.

“Nice Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2014

It is one of my favourites in Vienna, it is smaller than the others but it boasts a good collection. Parts of the museum was closed on this visit but it had an amazing Monet & Picasso exhibition which covered 6 or 7 rooms from the Batliner collection and a really nice Eric Fischl - Friends, Lovers and other Constellations exhibition along with some modern art in their state rooms. I recommend seeing the museum as both exhibitions were very good.

“Very special”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2014

We found this gallery to be a most exciting experience. Amongst many things here is a collection of French painters and paintings from many different eras. To us both the highlight of our visit was being able to see Durer's 'The Hare' at close quarters . we just kept on going back to see it again, but that isn't to belittle the quality of much of the rest that is on display, although, in my opinion, some of the paintings from the baroque era are a bit heavy going. Definitely on pour list to visit again when we return.
