As the Albertina has changing exhibitions, we were fortunate to visit the museum during the Gottfried Helnwein exhibition. It is quite interesting and a little confrontational in a way and it lasts till October 13th. If in Vienna during this particular exhibition, do not hesitate and be sure to visit the museum. Also the permanent collection "From Monet To Picasso" is worth a visit by itself. Don't be scared of the flight of stairs leading to the museum as there is an elevator and an escalator available.

I really enjoyed the Matisse to Picasso exhibition which was a large high quality exhibition of classic 19th and 20th century works of art. However, the upstairs exhibition is awful and made me feel sick! Lots of images of children in bloody bandages! And it went on forever. I was relieved to get out. Disturbing to say the least. What were the curators thinking?!

My brother lives in Vienna, so I go there quite often. That is why I know that Albertina is a must see. It shows regularly collections of the most famous artists worldwide. Is the place where I have seen Picasso for the first time as well as Michelangelo's works. Very impressive permanent art collections as well. Takes about 3 to 4 hours to see it in full, but worths every minute and cent spent.

Always offering a lot, lot more than any other gallery in Vienna. Check out the current exhibition and take some time off to see the best art works in history. Great place, you don't want to miss it! Check the web page for information: http://www.albertina.at/
