myself and my girlfriens booked with royal tours for a trip to salzburg and to visit some of the film locations from the sound of music film.
we were promptly picked up by minibus by our tour guide (robert) who was polite, and exceptionally knowledgeable on the history and answered any questions, there were 3 parties on the minibus from different countries, argentina-germany-england and he conversed fluently with each of us in native languages fluently!!
we stopped on the way to salzburg at a very pictursque spot and had a walk around a beautiful villiage before retuning to the minibus to continue to salzburg, when we arrived we headed to mirabell gardens (location of sound of music film) then on through the town. along the way we were given a thourough induction into the history of salzburg, the monuments etc..
we were given enough time to wander around and shop at our own pace and had a very good trip.
i like to give credit where it is due and have to say that robert was awarded 5 stars for his knowledge.

My husband and I just went on the full day excursion from Vienna to Salzburg and we loved it!

We were picked up at our hotel shortly after 7am in a mini van and then met up with the large tour bus. TheRoberto was our guide and he was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and helpful.

En route we took a scenic tour by some of the lakes, very picturesque. We arrived in Salzburg a little 12pm and followed Roberto around for an 45 minute tour. Our first stop was Mirabelle Gardens and one of the Mozart museums. Roberto did the tour in both English and Spanish, which allowed us to sneak in a few photos here and there. We crossed the bridge and meandered through the streets. We passed by Mozarts birth place, now a museum, and different churches and fountains leading up to the old town square. We split up there and had 2.5 hours to explore on our own. We didn't think we had enough time to go up to the castle so we walked around, bought some beautiful scarves, had lunch at an outdoor stand, and checked out the Mozart birthplace museum. The museum was much larger and more comprehensive than I expected it to be, worth the 10 euro price. We left Salzburg at 4pm and ended up back at our hotel at 8pm. There is a 30 minute rest stop each way.

I was hesitant to book this tour because of mixed reviews. But we had a great time on this tour and would recommend it to everyone!

The only question I had was why we had to bring our passports with us. They were never checked. Regardless, what a wonderful day in Salzburg!

We had taken a Royal Tours day trip to Salzburg in 2011 and this time we took a day trip to Prague. Our tour guide was Johann. He had a great sense of humor and kept the group entertained throughout the day. The nice thing about Royal Tours is that they pick you up from your hotel and the tour group is small. We had 10 people total I think. Johann had clearly given this tour hundreds of times so we knew we were in good hands and that he knew his way around. Prague is a beautiful city. It's worth the trip!

we took this trip with Jospeh (guide/driver) we were 8: 4 english speakers and 4 spanish. the driver had to repeat everything in both languages. when arriving to salzburg 2 of the english speakers left us to go on their own so the driver forgot about us in most of the places and went on in spanish. When we asked him to explain in english he said it in two words whereas he spoke 15 minutes in spanish. I do not recommand this tour for anybody we felt ripped off (100€ per person). Make no mistake we do not feel it's the guide's fault he did his best when he could but the rather the compagny's policy.

Whilst arranging our visit to Vienna we decided that a trip to Budapest would be worthwhile, and asked our hotel to arrange for us. The tour operator turned out to be Royal Tours and we have nothing but praise. We were delighted to find that Royal Tours only operates with small groups and in fact there were only 3 of us on the tour.(We had visions of a large fully loaded bus!) We left promptly at 7.00am. Our driver/guide was Marc(k?) and he was really good, a careful driver and with a deep knowledge of Budapest and its surrounds. We saw all the key sites and were given lots of time at each stop, plus plenty of free time to have lunch and explore on our own, making the most of our day. The Benz minibus was comfortable with lots of room making the journey quite comgortable
