“Average comfort but excellent location”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

If you looking for above-average comfort, then this hotel is not for you. It is old and the interior is tattered. The internet connection is also very poor.

However, the location makes this hotel above from others in the area. It is very near to the metro station and very near to numerous fast food chains.

Just a suggestion. Make a more visible signage of the hotel. I could hardly locate it at first for the sign was very very very very small!

Ok, this place is not a full service hotel; it's a bed and breakfast type place. There is no lobby; you need to right the buzzer outside and they'll let you in to the 8th floor, where the registrations is.

The location of this place is superb! and right by the metro too (Schwedenplatz)! Also, the area by the metro has the cheapest street food in town - the ice-creams, the pizzas, the gyros, etc... there is also a super market there if you want fresh produce.....

We payed $125/night for a double, shower/bath inclusive room for 5 nights. When we got there, the room was actually big for a European city, there was a big bathroom, a big closet, BUT there were two tiny beds instead of one big one. So we asked to change and they said no problem, but not for the first night. So that first night was a nightmare for me; I kept waking up during the night because I kept hitting the wall with my head as I turned (and I am a slim girl). BUT the next day, they switched us to another room...........well, not just a room - and whole apartment: with a bigger newly furnished bedroom set, a huge living room, a hallway, bathroom and bath AND all for the same price! This suited us very well indeed!

So, when you book this place, make sure you know what kind of room you are paying for because $125/night for that first room we got was way too much money, but the whole apartment for the same price was good!!!!!!!!!!

Another tip: if you book this place through their website, they offer you a pick-up service from the airport free of charge. If you are using the trains to get to Vienna, then you can use the metro.

The hotel staff is very nice and helpful. They can hook you up with excretions too. There is a free breakfast, but's it's pretty mediocre: just coffee/tea, breads, orange juice, 1 or 2 kinds of sliced cheese, and some salami-type meats. The milk is there too but it's not cold, so it's odd to have cereal with warm milk. Anyway, we had that breakfast nevertheless; just don't expect a Vegas-type buffet :)

Outdated decorum. Tiny box of a tv. Beds weren't very comfy. Towels a bit old and over used.

I choose this hotel because of its central location for a good price. I stayed here years ago too and thought it was fine then.

This time I was disapointed. My room smelled strongly of smoke, the building is not very soundproof and I woke up around 6 by hotel staff preparing breakfast or sometimes by other guests, breakfast coffee was stale. I arrived after 10pm and then there is no reception, no possibility to use the internet, etc.
Service was helpful and friendly though, and location is excellent.

I just spent one night in this hotel. It's on the 8th floor of an apt building, great location.
The staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms are decorated a bit like the 30s, which gives it charm. The bathroom is very basic, but works. The breakfast leaves a bit to be desired but with all the coffee houses in town, who cares. I recommend this for budget travel.

The Pension Dr. Geissler is a convenient place to stay in the Vienna old town. It is close to the Airport Bus stop and easy walking distance to everywhere in the old town. The rooms are basic, but clean. The reception team is helpful.
