“a true hidden gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2012

It's been 11 years (!) since we honeymooned in WIen, but the Riemergasse apartment seem not to have changed much. Back then, we stayed there as part of a package deal, and therefore were not aware of the exact per-night charge, but it's worth every cent! RIght behind the Stefansdom and the Graben, Kaertnerstrasse only five minutes, Stadtpark just over the tram tracks. Cook yourself or try one of WIen's oldest restaurants, right down the block.

Room Tip: Location, location! Riemersgasse Apartments has it.

We stayed for 3 nights and booked a studio on the top floor. The apartment was lovely, much bigger than I expected - we even had a single bedroom as well as the main bedroom! The staff were very helpful, and it was a great spot- close to everything with restaurants and bars on the same street. It's nt cheap but I thought it was worth it.

The location of the hotel is great as it's super easy to get around Vienna either by foot or the nearby subway station.

The room was good though the bathroom could use upgrades the first of which should be at least a shower curtain since it was virtually impossible to keep water off the floor while showering. It was refreshing to have a full size hairdryer though! The free Nespresso and teas were nice and the room itself was nice.

The service was just OK. Upon arrival (the day before Easter) we were greeted and given maps of the city...which weren't good at all! Thank goodness for iPhones and the maps we brought. We also inquired about breakfast seeing as the next two days were holidays. The clerk left us wondering about what to do because she said they don't actually have breakfast on the premises but they have an agreement with a nearby cafe for which vouchers can be obtained. We said we'd be interested as we didn't want to have to search around for breakfast but she never followed up with us. We luckily went to a nearby grocery store and obtained some groceries. Another confusing point was about parking. We were told to park our car in a nearby parking garage because they have an agreement with it and it'd be 20 euro a day. Two days later, we go to take the car to go on an outing and we were charged 80 euro! Today when we were checking out, my husband asked about the price difference and apparently the clerk at check in should have given us a voucher for parking. So....after 3 days of parking, we paid double what it was supposed to be!

We did enjoy our stay but the extra costs involved were not very appreciated due to service provided.

We stayed in what they call a "cute suite" on the 5th floor of the building. It was like a very spacious hotel room that included a kitchenette area (separate from the bedroom), desk, and sitting area. Ameniities like internet (LAN cable, not WIFI, because the signal doesn't reach that floor) and nespresso coffee maker were free. The location is an elegant, quiet residential street that is walking distance to many attractions and close to transportation.
Nearby "beisl" eatery den 3 Hacken was our favorite of the trip. Down the street is a cafe Aria which is good for breakfast or any time of day.

We stayed in apartment 19 (one bedroom with pull out sofa). We had booked a 2 bedroom apartment but it wasn't available when we arrived, and when the 2 bedroom apartment became available on the second day we chose to stay in 19, because it was the only apartment with a washing machine (no dryer). The web site was misleading on this point. We did look at apartment 21 (comments below).

The apartment's location was very conveient to the sites and the apartment itself was large and had nice architectural detail. However, for the price we paid (luxury hotel rates)we expected much, much nicer furnishings and detailing. There appear to be many more economical options in Vienna 1010 similarly situated.

What we liked:
19 was a large apartment
Great location
Beautiful high ceilings, parquet floors, mouldings, chandeliers, apartment entrance hall
Nice bathroom
Grocery store at end of street
Kitchen in separate room with door that could be closed (a plus given kitchen fan comment below)
Housekeeping left our kids children's bath toiletries
Lovely refurbished elevator

What we didn't like:
2nd bedroom of 2 bedroom apartment very, very small
2 bedroom apartment had very choppy layout
Revolting main entrance floor to building
Uneven housekeeping service (but office staff competent)
Cheap furniture
Kitchen stove fan exhausted into cupboard above stove
Fridge didn’t work (not cold enough)
Very noisy street - Across street from recycling bins (lots of glass breaking sounds at all hours) and a number of bars
No view
Inadequate kitchen supplies for more than breakfast
Floors weren’t clean but supplied slippers

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in a 'cute' suite and it was the perfect place to stay in Vienna.
The apartments included small touches that really made a difference - free & fast internet, nice toilettries, helpful information booklet with lots of local restaurant/cafe suggestions etc, an espresso coffee machine.....
The kitchenette had a stove and microwave, and sufficient pots and pans to cook a meal (thought no oven unfortunately...I think the larger apartments would have one though).
The location is right in the centre of the city, close to lots of main attractions and with lots of restaurants close by. There's also a supermarket across the street to get groceries without having to carry bags across the city.
Most impressive of all was the service here - we arrived early (12noon) and the apartment was cleaned for us within 15 minutes without any trouble, restaurant bookings were made happily, and the staff were always friendly and easy to talk to with no request too difficult (excellent English helped too!)
We were also able to secure a cheaper rate for the three nights by paying on booking instead of departure - a saving of around 50 Euro! Well worth asking if you're certain which dates you intend to stay.
Overall, we would highly recommend this place for a stay in Vienna!!
