We arrived in Vienna (having decided to make a brief jaunt from our lengthy stay in Budapest) and having been impressed by the hotel's website, asked if there were any vacancies - we were offered a "small room" which we thought would be fine given the seeming standard of the hotel. The lift/hallways were very tired looking but we still had high hopes... however the room barely fit two twin beds in, there was enough room for one person to stand (sideways) between them, yet there was also an inexplicably large wardrobe. There was a shower in the room but it looked so old + over used we decided against using it, along with the towels that were provided. The shared toilet smelt of urine, and the floor seemed sticky. Breakfast was ok, and the lady serving it seemed sweet + nice - more friendly than the girl on reception! The location was good for the museum quarter etc, but all in all I have stayed in many youth hostels that have felt much cleaner and more comfortable than this. It was also a pain that they didn't accept credit/debit cards.
