The first room i was offered was smelly and had a dripping sounds from within the walls. i asked to change the room but the clerk said there are no rooms available unless i pay 25 eur more for each day for a bigger room. i asked for my money back and suddenly a room became available for me at the original price. i hate when they do that.

I celebrated my birthday at the end of November 2011 in Wien, staying for 1 week at this hotel. We also visited the Xmas Markets around the town.
The hotel has really large rooms- we booked a normal room and were given an apartment, with living room and small kitchen, separate toilet, shower and also bathtube, a large bedroom, with a huge bed and flat tv. Temperature in the room was controled by the air conditioning, and it was warm and nice.
All furniture was brand new, as all the furnishings. Although all new, the room was a bit to business-like for my taste, and I would have added a warm-colored carpet or some nice flowers.
We did not pay for breakfast, we ate in the living room, as the small kitchen was fully equipped, with coffee making machine, microwave oven, fridge, plates and everyrhing needed.
The view from the room is towards an inner courtyard and a big parking. Not nice, but we chosen this hotel for the location, right next to the subway and nextdoor to the main shopping street of Vienna.
WiFi is free and with good signal.
The entrance of the hotel is through the subway passage. It was very convenient, as Vienna in winter time is really cold. To get to the main Xmas Market, you can either take the subway and walk a bit from the Cityhall back to the front, or get a bus from in front of the hotel until the ring street, and change it with a tram, and you will find yourself directly in front of the Cityhall. The bus also takes you to Hofburg palace and the citycenter.

We had booked the hotel more than three months ago, and I had specifically asked for a twin bed room, as traveling as two friends and not as a couple. We were promised a suite, and the week before going I resent an email to get confirmation on the twin bedroom. I got a confirmation back saying that it was noted in the reservation, and no issues.

When arriving at around 1PM our room was not yet ready, but again we were reassured that it was a twin bedroom. We left our luggage to the receptionist, who barely spoke a word of English - making it difficult; and went for a walk in the city. When we returned we were given the key cards for - again mentioned - our twin bedroom. However when entering the room we saw a small double bed.

I called reception, and was told the hotel was full, and there was nothing they could do except turn the living room couch into a bed. This was done quite fast, but I did insist that we get a clarification the next day. The receptionist told me I had to talk to someone the next morning - he could apparently not leave a note for the next staff. Absolutely no sense of customer service!

The entire 4 day stay we then used the couch for a bed, which meant the living room part was impossible to use. No one did anything to rectify the mistake.

The breakfast is very large and offers a wide selection - but the normal price of 17 EUR seems absolutely overrated. The restaurant staff again is very impolite - asking for your room number when entering without even a Good morning or a smile. You feel almost as intruding and not at all welcomed as a customer.

The hotel is however extremely well situated which makes it a shame, that all staff seem to think you are there to annoy them. They will not do anything to help you or to solve issues caused by themselves. Seemingly other people had same problem as us, and did not get any help either - except for changing their couch into a bed.

Unfortunately this leaves a bad note for the overall experience, and the reputation of the chain. Especially the lack of language skills makes it difficult to know if they are unwilling to help - as English seems to be a Martian language to them.

we are referring to your stay at the NH Wien Hotel. Once again, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience during your stay in our hotel.

The NH Wien is setting a high value on your comments and suggestions, since they help us improving our services and performance in all departments.

We would like to apologize that our hotel did not live up to your standards. We are sorry to hear that you perceived the front desk staff as well as the restaurant staff as being unqualified and not willing to help. We really do understand that you were upset because of the wrong information our front desk staff gave to you prior to and upon your arrival. Please rest assured that we have already spoken to the staff concerned and that we have taken proper action in order to avoid such behaviour for the future.

Once again, we would like to thank you for your feedback and we would be glad to welcome you and your family back again to the NH Wien or one of our 400 NH Hoteles worldwide, in order to show you that we can do it a much more better way as your experience of your last stay is not equal to our general standards.

My wife and I visited this hotel in August 2012. Our room was not in the main hotel building but we had to access it through an inner courtyard that is also used by the general public to access a shopping mall and the Mariahilfer street. Corridors of this "dependance" building were ot that nice and looked pretty. Asic. The room itself was very spatious with a large clean bathroom. Location of this hotel is also pretty convenient. We didn't have breakfast here as we found it expensive at EUR 19 a head. There is a Starbucks and a wealth of other local options nearby.

You get a suite for a standard room's price at the NH Wien. The room is amazing, clean, with a comfortable mattress. The location is great, as the Mariahilferstrasse is very commercial and just steps away from the Museumquartier. Even better, there is an entrance to the subway right under the hotel.
By mistake I had booked the room for July instead of June. They figured it out and even adjusted the price of the room down for us as a result. Talk about honesty! I would definitely return there on my next trip to Vienna.
Piece of advice: if it's not included in your room's price, eat breakfast in one of the nice cafes or gelaterias nearby. You'll save a few Euros and you will enjoy sitting at a terrace to sip a delicious Viennese coffee.

We stayed for three nights. The staff were very helpful, we arrived at 11pm and on checking in we asked if the room was non smoking,it wasn't and there was no problem to alter it, even tho' we could see it was a bit of work for her to do so. On requesting extra pillows, they were delivered. We found that the Internet vouchers you are given for the lobby actually worked in our room, and they always gave you lots. There was a big choice of hot or cold food for breakfast which was extra for us or we could have the free breakfast of as many croissants and coffees as you want. As I drink tea, again it was no problem to make one. I would have liked tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Our room was large with a sofa, desk, and big comfy bed, quiet at night. It is very close to everything, walking distance to most things. I would stay there again

We stayed for four nights in June. The hotel is very stylish and comfy. The rooms are relatively large and well designed. The location is great. It is located on the mariahillferstrace - not in the center but close enough. Despite all those benefits we encountered a quite serious service issue that damaged our stay and therefore the beginning of our trip. Our reservation was specifically for two rooms with queen beds (we were two couples). Despite that we received two rooms with twin beds (separate ones). The hotel didn’t have any other rooms to offer that night. Next morning we had to pack again everything and take the luggage to the lobby. They told us that they will put them in the new queen rooms. But when we came back one of the new rooms still had twin beds. So we had to move again. We were on a time schedule and were late for a show at the opera house that we ordered in advance. The hotel didn’t offer any explanation or compensation for all of this trouble. We are frequent travelers; especially to Europe and would expect a 4 starts hotel (especially NH) to do better.
