“A perfect location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

This hotel is located literally adjacent to the main train station, which is not only convenient for travel throughout Austria but also has very regular bus links to the airport. The airport bus terminus is right outside the hotel door. The hotel is very new and modern and a bit minimist. The rooms are small but perfectly comfortable. This is not a luxury hotel but a very comfortable but practical hotel in the heart of Vienna. It's perfect as a business base or perhaps a shopping trip to Vienna. The only negative is despite the size of the hotel ( it's very big ) there's no restaurant on the premises, however there are a lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood. I particularly like an oriental restaurant on a corner across the road. However on wet, snowy evenings, it's not easy crossing a very large, main road to get there.

This hotel locates just beside Westbahnhof (West train station) of Vienna. It is just super convenient.

The room was not big, just enough. There are so many rooms on each floor. I have to walk a long distance with my luggages after getting of from lift.

The hotel and room was furnished with modern design.

The only drawback is that the shower area would make the whole toilet wet. It simply can't prevent water from getting out during shower.

This hotel is in a good location if you are wanting to travel by train, as it is right next to the train station. The rooms were clean and very simple. They have no closets, drawers, only shelving and limited table space, so it was difficult to find places to put our "stuff". The included breakfast was full of good options and several "stations" so you didn't have to stand in much of a line to get your juice, coffee, danishes, etc. The bar staff was very friendly and attentive. We went to a tavern around the corner one night for drinks and dinner, but other than that, we did not seek out restaurants in the immediate area.

We stayed 2 nights in this modern hotel and I can't agree with others reviewers on the cleanness of the hotel. Maybe it was the maid of the 4th floor or what, but when we arrived, there was a bag of trash and an empty bottle of soft drink from the latest guests in the room over the carpet next to the bed. Then we opened the bed and the sheets were stained with oil or something like that.

Since we are not picky, we did nothing and the second day when the maid did the room, it's like she didn't made the bed at all! all wrinkled up.

The bedroom is small but comfortable, the bathroom is very very tiny, two people can't fit in there. The towels were good, good shower, no flooding problem. The weird thing is that there is no soap! we had to use the shower gel as soap.
There is no wardrobe, only shelves to store your things. No bedside table, so I had to leave my stuff on the floor next to the bed.
Wifi was free and very good.
Staff is very nice and helpful.
Breakfast is worth it, 7,5 euro per person, lots of choices but gets super crowded. The staff is fast and they replenished food and cleaned the tables fast so it's not a problem.
Air Con did not work.

The best thing of the hotel is the location. Just a step away of the Westbahnhof, so if you arrive and leave from the station it's very convenient and comfortable. The subway is a step away too and is a small ride to the city centre. And if you want to walk to the city centre you can walk 30 min through the shopping street Mariahilfe Strasse. The Westbahnhof has restaurants and shops too.

So overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel for the dirt problems, but maybe it was only my case. There are better hotels for a little more money nearby.

Was trepidatious about this hotel having read some of the reviews - but have now realised that most of the bad ones seem to come from the other side of the Atlantic where standards seem to be a bit too high for what they are being asked to pay. The rooms are small but functional - and I do not intend to live in a hotel room - just sleep there! The hotel is cheap and minutes from the railway terminal. The staff were very polite and helpful - explaining where my wife and I could easily purchase an evening meal close by at a reasonable price. Although I do not intend to visit Wien again, I will happily book in to another member of this chain with no qualms. One word of warning - this year I have found several occasions where travellers do not speak the local language and rely on apps on their smartphones instead! Learn a few words of the language and carry a pocket dictionary as the apps cannot cope with dialects and are predominently useless - it avoids you having the bad experiences I have witnessed in the last couple of weeks.

As previous reviewers have commentated-
-spotless and maintained so for the six days we were there
-decent size room , including an armchair, flatscreen TV
-very comfortable bed (though why the ubiquitous two mattresses pushed together when the 'alcove' into which they fit means you could not get two beds in I do not know)
-nice bathroom, powerful shower, good towels (changed as you wish) .We had no problem with water on the floor.
-hanging space not wardrobe (tipped off on this forum I took extra hangers-which I left behind )
-shelves not drawers
- we had no problem with Wi Fi (it 'dropped out' a couple of times, but only when I hadn't used it for hours). Why are people so obsessed with internet connection on holiday? There are plenty of cafes with it...
-very quiet-we had a room on third floor, facing an inner courtyard
The only minor 'gripe' was that we couldn't get the plug to block the sink basin. I expect they would have sorted if we'd bothered to mention it. We didn't need the air con as it wasn't that warm in late Sept and we were able to open our window.
-staff were friendly and helpful . No queue for check in (8.30 pm Tues evening)
- breakfast 6am-10am- is good value as it's help yourself buffet(we bought coffee and their equivalent of 'danish' at the station one morning as we were leaving very early for Salzburg - the hotel was much better value). The room gets busy but staff very quick to clear up and replenish so not a problem
The location is very convenient . 45 min 13E return bus(No 7) from airport . We used Metro into town most days and walked back, usually down MariaHilfer strasse (about 45 mins) You do have to go North to Volkstheatr on the U3 then change to U2 for Museums quarter/Karlsplatz (then possibly again, depending on where you are going) but the trains are frequent, stations very clean and signing is excellent 2.10 E for a single (you can't get returns).Machines at the station .A pass is probably cheaper/more convenient but we 'broke' our stay in Salzburg. The transport system is integrated . We also got 58 Tram to Schonbrunn.I think there are trams into town from across the road too .
An 'oddity' is that you pay your bill on arrival . Have never encountered this before. I suppose it stops people skipping off . On reflection, should have viewed room first as it would have made it difficult to 'quibble'/query afterwards
You are asked if you want breakfast . We paid 'as and when' as we weren't sure of plans -bit of a faff as you have to show invoice to the person who supervises the breakfast room/bar entrance
The only 'drawback' of the location from our point of view was the lack of 'proper' restaurants anywhere near the hotel, except Cafe Westend (or at least we couldn't find any). There are loads of fast food outlets on MariaHilfer Strasse , but, being old, we like a pleasant 'sit down' meal/environment at the end of a hard day's sightseeing. We therefore ate in Central Vienna most nights-even in 'posh' restaurants they are better at coffee and cake /snacks than full blown meals though

Room Tip: If noise bothers you , ask for one overlooking the inner courtyard . It's safe to open the windo...

The hotel is ideally located for tourists like us. Step out of the railway station and it's right there. The U-bahn station is just across the road as is a tram stop for several lines. We got ourselves Vienna Cards which cost less than 20 Euros each and we were thus entitled to make unlimited use of Vienna's public transport systems for 72 hours - definitely the best investment we made because this we were able to reach any attraction that we wanted to within a very short period of time. The hotel itself is elegantly simple and clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The room was quite spacious as was the bathroom. there was a wide - screen TV in the room and a hair dryer in the bathroom. WiFi (free) was available.. The breakfast buffet was good and moderately priced at 7.50 Euros per head. However, all was not sunshine and light: there was a problem with the air conditioning which I could not understand ; thus, the room was rather warm for much of the four nights we spent there. One staff member told me that the system was unserviceable while another said that the cooling unit was switched off for all rooms because the summer was over and cooling was no longer required! Given that the air conditioning temperature control range was 15 - 30 degrees I could not find the logic in the latter reason given me. Unfortunately, the window could not be left open at night because of the noise of the traffic on the roads. The hotel management needs to look into this matter. Also, into the fact that that there is no way for a guest to communicate with the front desk from his/her room ;this could well lead to a serious situation in, say, a medical emergency involving the guest.

Room Tip: Confirm from Reception that all systems are go when you check in.
