This hotel is close to city centre and a quick taxi ride for around 13 Euros. There’s also the option of taking a tram. The tram stop is around the corner form the hotel. There are a few shops, but eating options are almost inexistent.
The hotel is dated and has a strange layout. You arrive at a floor by lift and then have to climb many stairs to get to your room. Very awkward when you have luggage, or an elderly person with you! They moved us to a room near the lift, which had cooking facilities. The room was small, poorly lit and the bathroom was tiny. There was a personal light above the bed, which is too low and you end up hitting it, every time you move in bed. Beds are comfortable.
Doors to the rooms are hard to handle with old fashioned keys.
Buffet breakfast was adequate, but staff was unfriendly and stressed.
Front desk staff was too slow to respond. The hotel computer system is very slow, so check out time was pretty stressful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without stairs leading to it.

We always enjoy staying at this hotel. A few warnings--the hotel is not downtown. If your stay is short, you may not want to be this far out. Also, the breakfast is great, but if you have to pay separately, probably not worth it. There may be a hint of faded glory to this hotel, but our double room had lots of room, a desk, a table, a tiny kitchen with fridge, a closet, shelves, lots of outlets, in short we were very comfortable. There is a laundromat downstairs. The staff are wonderful. If you put the "Please clean room" sign out, they clean your room. You do not have to fight with them for the elevator (as we did in Brussels). We went into the restaurant quite late. While there was a certain laxity (tablecloth soiled, I never got a napkin) the food was good and was served promptly and cheerfully. We find this hotel a good value and I would recommend it to all but my wealthiest and pickiest friends.

Hotel is situated in the quiet residential area of Vienna. It is relatively good connected to the city centre by tram no. 38 (tram station is cca. 2 min. walking form the hotel) – it takes about 20-25 min. to the center of the city. The rooms, the furniture and interior decoration are very old and outdated (it reminded me on the student dorm). Hotel rooms and other premises are clean and well maintained. Overall, in my opinion this hotel is not a 4* hotel and I will not be disappointed if I don’t stay there ever again.

Although the hotel is some distance from the center of the city (it is located in the 19th district), the transportation system makes it easy to get around to other parts of Vienna. The location close to Grinzing, with excellent tram service to the eateries there, is an advantage.

I stayed for five nights at a very reasonable rate. The room was small, but perfectly adequate, with a kitchenette and plenty of closet space, as well as a reasonable size bathroom.

Early check-in and late check-out is not usually possible.

The breakfast is well worth the 14 Euros. The staff are young, eager to please, always smiling, and very helpful.

Overall, an uneventful and pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the garden. Rooms facing the street can be noisy in the early morning.

I stayed in the Kaiser Franz Joseph in Vienna in September for 4 nights. Rooms are clean but not particularly spacious. Single room is really a room with a single bed.
Very good breakfast and I loved the service although I couldn´t check in earlier even if I kindly asked this option 2 weeks earlier.

This hotel is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood ( the 19th district so it takes about 20-30 minutes to go to Inner Stadt (Old city centre) from this hotel by tram and the cost is 2,20€.

I`m not sure if this hotel meets 4-stars criteria, 3-stars would be more realistic.

Room Tip: You should ask a room w/ garden view and a room w/ a balcony.
