this hotel is not in the city centre, but it is within walking distance of the schonnebrun palace
,I know because I walked it, The hotel is comfortable an the breakfast is good,The room was a smoking room and was comfortable ,I have seen people complain about noise outside the hotel,I was on the front of the buildng and the only noise was the traffic during the day,but not that bad. There is transport outside which will take you to the city centre. If you
turn left when you leave the hotel ,you will find that there are a few nice restaurants on both sides of the street, including a very pleasant greek one. and this area is really quite pleasant.

Room Tip: I would recommend a non smoking room,on the front

In this hotel not the order, but the receptionist has the main word.
The most important receptionist (I’m sorry I haven’t written her name)
Don’t trust this hotel if you were going in Vienna by car.
The treatment on the reception desk is reseved and almost cold
You are not a customer ot a guest – but only credit card (the only thing they are interested in)
They may do you down and moved your car away
If you don’t ask – they won’t inform you
and when you asked – they won’t told you and shouw you clearly where to park
They gave you – Parkkarte with text that you are guest of the hotel and you are told to put it on the front window of your car.
They left you with the impression that the question with parking is arranged and that you owing the mentioned 14 eur per day
My car remain 20 hours and no one from the employee in the hotel warn me that I might have problems
And I had problems – on amount of 199 eur, After my car was repatrrated.

Kraber, General Manager at Novum Hotel Kavalier Wien, responded to this review, June 5, 2011
Dear guest,

I am referring to your comment on TripAdvisor and certainly sympathize with you and fully understand that you were enraged that the police towed away your car.

Nevertheless at the same time please let me also mention that I feel quite embarrassed and find it unjust that you have voiced your enragement on TripAdvisor. At the hotel you did not give me any chance to talk to you personally in a calm manner but simply walked away accusing the hotel and the receptionists of being unhelpful. However, the receptionist had given you a ticket for the underground garage and the entrance to the garage is very clearly marked and was right next to where you parked your car on the street.

You parked your car in a 'no-parking' area and there is no doubt that in Austria these areas are as well marked by international traffic signs as in all other countries. Our guests are given parking tickets for the underground garage and in no way can our staff be held responsible for checking where guests park their cars if they chose not to make use of the facilities made available for them.

As already mentioned I sympathize with you but must emphasize that the hotel cannot be blamed for this incident.

Thank you and best regards,

Ingrid Zingrosch, General Manager

Rooms are spacious, clean and Spartan. They are either on the noisy street side or on the train track side. Not a good sleep on either side. Thinner towels do not exist, and there are no nice little toiletries in the bathroom. Wifi was said to exist, but would not work in my room and worked only in a spotty way in the lobby. It cost 10 Euros an hour, but I did not end up having to pay this, because of poor quality of connection. Hair dryer broken. Temperature does not go below the building limit of 23 degrees, but within this limit, air conditioning exists. The television had BBC as its only non-German language channel, although the info in the room listed several others. The restaurant provided an adequate Czech style pub meal (Schnitzel, potatoes, peppers and tomato salad, doughy dessert with jam). In Czech Republic in a small town, this meal might cost about 3 dollars American. Here it cost 15 Euros or closer to 20 dollars. Breakfast was standard Euro-breakfast, with nothing fresh the first day, but a bowl of oranges and apples was added on the second. Based on the breakfast alone, one would have no idea what country one is in. Adequate coffee IMO.

There were busloads of Japanese tourists both nights I was here.

I booked the hotel at a travel agency which used bedsonline. I asked for a clean, quiet, inexpensive room in the center of the city. I got the "clean" part of my request. This hotel is kind of near the Palace Schoenbrunn, but nothing else. It's a long ride to the center and the neighborhood where the hotel is located is somewhere north of dodgy, but not far north. I'd call it unpleasant, but probably safe. My taxi driver charged 60 Euros to go to the center, but this was likely a dishonest price. Tram fare was only 2.20 each way.

Had a room at the back of the hotel which looked out on to the railway line. Was kept awake by the sound of the trains all night except for a 4 hour period when they stopped 2am-4am. the room itself was nice and clean.
Went to the restaurant for dinner only to be told that it was closed because they had a group booking and didn't have the staff to serve me. When asked for details of any restaurants nearby there was one within 300 yards. That restaurant was good and cheaper than the hotel.
The hotel is located well out of the city centre and would take time to get there. Picture attached is the view from my hotel window.

Hotels is new, but located quite far from the city, so, if you plan to spend your time in the centre, it's not a great choice. Rooms are nice, stylish, staff is ok, but they really need to be more gentle with the guests. They have a small bar in the lobby and a souvenir shop. Overall it's not bad, it is just badly located. Oh, and if you are planning to get internet connection, be prepared, it is very expensive, about 5 Euro for 15 minutes....

Good for a short business stay, but I would not book it for a city trip. It is located to far away from where the tourist attractions are. Near Schönbrun, if you like walking, but I took a taxi (11 euro). Taxis are not cheap in Vienna.
No airco, and sleeping with the windows open is not a good option if you have a room on the street side.
Limited biz-service. Printing a boarding pass (a pretty standard option I thought) had to be done by logging in to the one pc they had. At costs. This one pc is then called the business center. A bit optimistic I found.
