The staff is very warm, the rooms are clean and breakfast is rich enough. Hotel is located in a central area behind the Rathaus (City Hall) in a quiet street and easily reachable by subway (Rathaus). Rooms on the ground floor (n12, n13) are very large and easily accessible to stroller. Bathroom is a little bit old and small but the great shower (without cabin) is useful. The road is very silent; we have never had problems with the cars on the road. The area around is pretty calm but doesn't have much to offer. To arrive in the city centre on foot it takes twenty minutes (quiet walk with stroller.

OK this is only a three-star hotel, many would say. And who would be so dumb to book a three-star for their honeymoon? Well, we did book the Graf Stadion, and we didn't regret it.

As could be expected over the New Year period, the hotel was fully booked, but the Staff were helpful and attentive, just as if we were the only guests at the hotel.

They saw to our every wish, and the breakfast was substantial - cold cuts, hard boiled eggs done to perfection, a selection of breads, yoghurts, cereal, all fresh and genuinely buffet-style. On the days when the hotel had higher room rates, they upgraded the breakfast, including bacon and eggs! Definitely recommended.

On the last day, we had to check out early, and since we would be missing breakfast, they left us a lunch bag in our room - and it was substantial, and packed wll enough to remain fresh till the next day. Indeed, it was fresh enough for us to keep having bits of it till the evening of the next day!

Even though our room was one of the smaller ones, it was still very big, with a good bed, and was spotlessly clean.

The hotel's location is wonderful for anyone wishing to see Vienna. It is right by the underground and tram lines, next to Rathaus, which is a central as you can get. With free maps and information distributed at the reception, this is simply the best hotel we've ever been to in Vienna, at a price which was very reasonable and affordable.

Booking was effected through booking.com - which provided the bast rate through Tripadvisor!

The hotel is located on a quiet side street close to the tram line. No noise problems with the tram though. The room was small and the beds were two singles that you couldn't push together, so don't bring your girlfriend here. The beds seemed extra small, which made me think of being on a submarine. Bathroom was a shower only with a shower curtain, which is fine with me, probably the highlight of the room.

The staff was courteous and formal. The breakfast was OK, though I would have liked there to have been some sausages or warm meat instead of just cold cuts. Free internet, but you have to stand up to use it.

Good location with lots of good restaurants, bars, and groceries nearby. I found Vienna to be a very easy city to get around in, so I think anywhere near the ring or a tram line would give you a good location. The Rathaus and cathedral nearby definitely had great architecture.

I got what I paid for and it was clean, so I can't complain but I wouldn't rave over this hotel either.

Our stay at Hotel Graf Stadion was Sept 14-17 (Fri Sat Sun nights).

We arrived via train from Budapest at the Westbahnoff station.

Took the U3 line to the U2 line (3 stops) and the U2 line one stop to the Rathaus Station. This took maybe 10 minutes maximum.

The hotel entrance is on a smaller side street, Buchfeldgasse, which is just off of Josefstadter/Stadion. Josefstadter intersects with Auersperg STr right at the Rathaus station. Very easy to find and only a short 3 block walk. An alternative is the J tram which runs up Josefstadter Str.

Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and checked in quickly. Our room was 3rd floor. The antique lift was quite charming, ableit small, and was never out of service.

Interesting point, the room had two doors. One, the outer, was not lockable, but the inner door was. There was appx two feet of space between the two.

The room was as expected after reading prior reviews, and seeing pictures. European double, small desk at the foot of one bed with a tv, and an armoire at the foot of the other bed. Small shelves over each bed acted as night stands and had a light underneath each for reading.

Our package included a fresh fruit plate and large mineral water upon arrival, as well as two 24 hour transit cards for Vienna, and two chocolates. The plate included bananas, plums, oranges, and grapes, and was a welcome snack after the train and transit rides.

The room featured one window, overlooking Buchfeldgasse. We left them open for the duration as the natural air conditioning was quite pleasant. There were a few late night revelers that went by but in my opinion only added to the ambiance.

Bathroom was small, but exceptionally clean. Amenities provided were soaps and shampoos. Shower was spotless and drained well.

Breakfast was large, and featured anything you could really ask for. Great assortment of fresh breads, jams, jellies, and butters. Cold meat selection was also expansive, and also featured at least one Kosher selection each day. Fruits and vegetables, tomatoes, pineapple, cereals, good coffee, juices, milk, and fresh yogurt were also available. The staff never failed to greet us each morning and bid goodbye as we left. Although the room was generally full of diners, it seemed large enough to handle the crowds reasonably.

There is one internet station just outside the lobby and dining area, that was never busy, and was relatively high speed.

The location, we felt, was terrific. Walking distance to everything central, and also directly on the J tram line which could get you anywhere. The neighborhoods behind and around the hotel were interesting and we found several beautiful churches not listed on the map, as well as several good pubs.

There are two markets one block up Josefstadter, and a really good restaraunt, Die Fromme Helene, right across from the markets.

Departure was also quick and pleasant, and it was easy to take J tram to D tram to the Wien Suedbahnoff station for our rail trip to Prague.

Our stay exceeded expectations, and we would stay here again if and when in Vienna again. Good value, great location.

I stayed in this hotel with my girlfriend and her sister for 13 nights and enjoyed a very pleasant and friendly stay. The receptionists were helpful, depending on who's working. The housekeeping employees and breakfast crew always greeted us with a friendly smile. Speaking of breakfasts, they had about 6 different kinds of sliced ham, cheeses, a wealth of breads, cereals and fruits. The coffee was wonderful. There is an elevator that can fit a maximum of 3 average-sized adults that goes up to 3 floors --the problem is that the elevator door must be closed before it can be accessed from another floor, and so we had to walk up to our rooms a couple of times when someone forgot to close it. The hallways and rooms were always kept clean. I'd like to add that our hotel room is bigger than my picture portrays (double room) --roomy for European standard but obviously small when compared with Canadian/American hotels. The alley way leading up to the hotel is very quiet but we always felt safe in the area. The metro is a mere 2 minute walk from the hotel. Speaking of metros and trams, we were stupid enough to pay for metro tickets for a full day and later finding out that no one else pays! There are no blockages to prevent you from entering the metro so people would just walk in without paying. In other words, the metro and trams were FREE for us for the rest of our stay. Vienna is an expensive city so saving on metro/tram fees is a big plus. Now back to the hotel...it is situated literally at the centre of Vienna and so you could practically walk to any famous/popular parts of the city. It's less than a 10 minute walk to the Parliament, and 15 minute walk to one of Vienna's oldest libraries which is, in my opinion, the hub of everything interesting. Once there, on the left side you can reach the famous Stephansplatz with its towering and beautiful churches and shopping areas with a little more walking and on the right side of the library is the Museum Quarter which essentially is a grouped hub of various museums. A very highly recommended hotel to stay in Vienna. On a final note, I'd like to add that we never knew of or learned a word of German while staying in Vienna--almost everyone is capable of some English.

Nice, homey hotel on a quiet street in a good location: close to Metro station, even closer to tram line, and with lots of restaurants, bars and shops nearby. We generally took the Metro or trams to attractions, but one day did have a pleasant walk from the state opera house to the hotel via the royal palace. Rooms not luxurious but comfortable. Receptionist could have been more helpful in finding concert tickets (gave us a number that led to a German language recording and she pretty much shrugged and said we should call at a different time), but overall we were pleased. Breakfast buffet, included in the price, was good. We got a large room (120 Euros vs. 110 for smaller one). I found the price a bit high for a 3-star hotel, but have to admit this was affected by the bad U.S. dollar-to-Euro conversion rate. Centimeter bar and restaurant a block away was quite good.
