“Very good cozy hotel with central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2011

I can recommend this hotel. The hotel located right near the Cordial Theater in old historical building. The hotel is small and cozy. Everything is renovated but good feeling of historical touch. Very Good central location. Clean and functional rooms. Clean bathroom. Very good and elegant breakfast with Champagne.

We stayed here for 2 nights with 2 young children. The rooms are over 2 levels which gave us plenty of space for the four of us. The room also had a kitchenette which for 2 nights we didn't use but would be great for those wanting to cook basic items in the room. We had great meals at local cafe restaurants with traditional Austrian fare at reasonable prices. The location was terrific being walking distance to the town hall and ring road and even with small children we were able to walk every where. The Palace was a short metro trip away and very easy. The Christmas markets were just beautiful and Vienna was a great start to our Christmas festivities. Judy in the restaurant was terrific both days and Ulrike and Silvana on reception were very helpful. Unfortunately the lady working on reception the two evenings we were there was not as helpful, her communication regarding the ring tram was vague (which mean't we took the wrong one!) and her manner during other dialogue with her felt like she was unhappy to be working the Friday and Saturday night the week before Christmas. Overall though we were really impressed with the hotel and we would definitely stay again. It was around 12.00 euro from the hotel to the main train station and very easy. Great for families.

The rooms were very spacious, nice clean hotel, certain staff were fanastic and very accommodating. We booked a room, but we had a large apartment (named Mozart, of course!) at the same value! The breakfast was amazing, high quality of food. Great location - central enough to walk into old town, about 20 min. One of the most impressive hotel in my life. I strongly recomand to anyone who wants to visit this imperial town.

We stayed there from August 11h-18th, purchasing a gateway through our timeshare. We had an appartment with 2 levels, one on the first floor and the other on the ground floor, looking the inner courtyard, which in the morning is used to serve breakfast under umbrellas. The appartment had a kitchenette with all you need in a kitchen. On the first floor was the kitchenette and a sofa, which became the bed for our 2 daughters and a TV and on the ground floor there was the master bedroom and a fully equipped bathroom (which needs more hangers to hang the towels!). Ok, we had 2 chairs in the upper floor, instead of 4, so as to eat our breakfast in the appartment (the hotel serves breakfast buffet in the price of 15 €/person, or less things with lower prices) and this can be considered a bit inconvenient, but you can overpass it. For us it was much cheaper to go to the supermarket, which is 30 m. away, and buy whatever we needed so as to have breakfast or snack and eat them in the appartment. There is also a bakery 150 m. away. The small refrigerator is full with things of the minibar, but you can put them in the cupboard and then the refrigerator is yours! The hotel is very quiet and we had a pleasant stay. The staff was friendly and ready to serve you. There is a sauna and solarium room there for the use of the residents of the hotel. I used the sauna every day and it was fantastic. Every floor has a polish machine for the shoes. Round the hotel there are a lot of restaurants with all types of cuisine: local (I recommend "Die Alte Backstube", just round the corner, which is a restaurant and a bakery museum, with very good food), greek, turkish, asian. Vienna is expensive in food, so you can search and find what you want. The hotel is very near to the Town Hall of Vienna, the Parliament and the Supreme and High Court. The area is very safe. Outside the hotel is passing the line 2 of the tram and 300 m. away from the hotel is the Rathaus stop of the undreground, so it 's very easy to go everywhere in Vienna using them. If you stay for days, like us, you have to seach for the special week or less cards, which are used in all of the underground, tram and bus lines. We were lucky to find an international cuisine festival, together with the Vienna International Film Festival, taking place in the open air in front of the town Hall, with good prices (6-9 €) for every plate, which was very good. The price for our appartment was 174 €/day, but because of our timeshare we payed only 95 €/day, which was a perfect price. Next to the hotel you can find shops for clothes and other things (we went to the optician also) with very good prices. For us the hotel deserves its 4 stars and I recommend it. It 's not very luxurious, but it has all you need and its point is just perfect.

We visted Vienna in November last year, and after reading many reviews we decided to stay at the Cordial Theatre Hotel. We weren't disappointed! As mentioned in previous reviews, our room was actually an apartment, fully equipped with mini kitchen, bedroom, large bathroom and a lounge with sofa. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, and everything was clean and lovely. The only down side we experienced was the kitchen was a little un- useable. Having decided not to go bed and breakfast, we were hoping this would be an advantage. However the fridge was stocked with their own supplies for you to purchase, and there were no plates or cutlery. This was only a minor quibble during our stay and not to be effected if you're eating out.

The hotel was situated in a great area, only a short walk to the Rathaus which held the most beautiful Christmas market I've ever been too. Definitely worth a visit around November/ December time! There is a short walk into the Ringstrasse and about a 20 minute walk to the Stephansplatz which is an amazing building surrounded by great retail shops and places to eat, including an outstanding cafe/ patisserie called Aida. The cakes were to die for!

Overall we enjoyed our trip to vienna and would definitely recommend this hotel for it's large rooms and superb staff.
