“Harry Lime's Theme”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

My friend said he's "never seen me so excited". He was probably right.
Although seeing the movie is a must to fully appreciate much of the museum (if you haven't then you may be wasting your life) but much is dedicated to Vienna and recovering from WW2. To see what it was and how it has been rebuilt is a testament to the Austrian people.
I could have stayed in there hours - I probably did.

“A must for lovers of classic cinema”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

I love Vienna and I love The Third Man. So you can imagine my delight when I found there was a museum dedicated to the iconic film noir in the heart of the city.

This is an impressive private collection with posters, memorabilia, props from the film. The owners are extremely friendly and informative and take a delight in showing you around the place.

What's more, it dedicates an entire room to an almost forgotten part of Viennese history; the occupation by four powers much like that of Berlin.

An encompassing experience of the film and of late 40's history. Very unique.

“Don't miss it”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

If you liked the film 'The Third Man' (in my view of the the great movies of all time) then this museum is a must. Even if you have not seen the film, the museum is still full of interest with diverse exhibits focusing on life in Vienna in those years of the 4 power allied occupation that lasted from 1945 to 1955. The couple who run the museum are very helpful, informative and a mine of information about both the film and Vienna.

Sadly, when I went, the museum was open only on Saturday afternoons. Pity. It deserves to be much better known.

“Terrific museum”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

You'll certainly get more out of this amazing museum if you've seen the 'Third Man' (I think one of the best films ever made!). However, even if you have not seen this great movie, a visit to this museum is a must if you have any interest in the fascinating immediate post-war history of Vienna. Sadly the opening hours are presently limited to Saturday afteroons. They should stay open longer and be much better known.

“If You Liked the Film, You'll Love this Museum”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

This museum is deceptively large, spread out over 13 rooms in four different areas of a building, and has the most comprehensive collection of artifacts, background info, photos, etc. devoted to a single film. Conveniently arranged in a logical sequence that takes you from the film itself to post-war Vienna and special exhibitions, one can easily spend several hours here. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our only regret was that the museum wasn't open for more hours, and on only one day of the week except by special arrangement.
