“Best Western Hotel " Roemischer Kaiser ": Vienna's hidden little jem!”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Staying at this hotel is the closest you will get to staying in a small Baroque-style inner-city palace!

This small but extremely quaint and historic hotel is located in the heart the famous historic downtown Vienna pedestrian zone with all the important city center sights, dining and shopping in walking distance. The location of this hotel could not be better!

The rooms are well stocked with amenities including slippers and robes and are very clean.
The bathrooms are all done in new, original Gianni Versace tiling and quite spacious and beautiful. The only problem we had was with the shower in the morning when the temperature changed from hot to cold randomly back ad forth.

As already mentioned, the guest rooms and all public areas are decorated in authentic Baroque-style to be in harmony with the buildings facade, which has been beautifully restored!

The common area (foyer) and the breakfast room, although small, are very cosy and inviting and again, all decorated in Baroque-style.
The breakfast buffet is on the small side but had a nice variety of different foods.

Staff are friendly except for one older gentleman at the reception desk whose personality could use a bit of a boost...!

Even though the hotel is located right in the center, the small and narrow cobblestoned street ( "Anna Gasse" ) is very quiet at night despite the handful of cosy little eateries it houses.

If you have an appreciation for history and old-world architecture, this little gem of a hotel will not disappoint!
It is small though and we would not really recommend it to families with children.
We can't wait to go back to Vienna and stay at " Hotel Roemischer Kaiser " again!

Tip: When in Vienna make sure you eat at a restaurant called "Plachutta". The hotel can make a reservation for you and it is in walking distance ( 10 min. ) from the hotel. They serve very tasty, high quality local specialties and the place is popular with all kinds of celebrity folks from allover the world!

Room Tip: All rooms are very quiet! Some rooms look out onto the pedestrian alley (you get more natural light...

Stayed in August, booked a deluxe room, 4th floor. This is a Premier Best Western, and it lives up to the description (we have stayed at other Best Westerns before - this one is definitely a notch more luxurious). Location is really excellent, in a quiet (but not spooky) lane just off the middle of the centre of town, 5 minutes from the Albertina. Easy to walk to everywhere from the hotel, either through the front or the back entrance. Hotel is well-kept throughout, excellent cooked and continental breakfast selection, large clean bathroom with robes and slippers provided, good hairdryer and toileteries. Good sized bedroom and firm support mattress, we loved the bed and bedding. Excellent airconditioning (you need this in 30 deg summer). Hotel receptionist is helpful but do some reading up for restaurants before to give him an idea of what you want. Taxis come in 2 minutes and staff are always on hand to help with bags. Comfy chairs in the reception area while you wait. Selection of english newspapers available for free (IHT, FT). One tip: Close the second door at night, otherwise the smell of frying bacon wafts up into the room (from where?) in the morning. Had a great stay at this Premier hotel, would certainly stay again if I returned to Vienna, and have no hesitation in recommending this as an excellent alternative to impersonal overpriced 5-star hotels which couldn't possibly do better. Good for weekend couple-stay, or for solo lady travellers.
Had a lovely dinner at the Do&Co hotel's 7th floor restaurant facing the Dom.

Room Tip: Higher floor is better.

Nice, all right, but expensive. Bathroom very tiny and tight. Our room on 4th floor did not in any way reflect our expectations from the homepage. It had low ceiling and was nice and comfortable, but not luxurious. Very pink. Very quiet.
Staff is very friendly and helpful, although some of the directions for sights where useless and wrong. Breakfast is ok, nothing extraordinary.
The wonderful location is absolutely what makes it something to consider.

Room Tip: Lower floors might have higher ceilings

Location is excellent it`s out of question!
The hotel has a nice, romantic atmosphere!
Breakfast is acceptable but in few tings they should take care of the quality and replenishment is weak.
Receptionist are OK one of them is very friendly and helpful (the hungarian speaker) but his colleagues are little bit snooty and make us feel like working for us is a favour not his duty.
Roooms: we always take a suite and it is always nice and clean.
Air condition doesn`t really work. A/C was on all day long but when we were back to the room in the evening the room wasn`t cool enough. Most probably they try to save money this way that they let the A/C work more as a fan not as a real A/C.
Staff is weird the same lady who work in the kitchen for breakfast then going to clean up rooms. We just surprised that they do not sit in the reception desk later.
They have no help with luggages "DIY" system works.
Expensive comparing to all the service they offer, just because they are in the heart of Vienna they charge much more then normally could worse to pay for a hotel like this.

Room Tip: Ask your room view to Annagasse!

Totally recommend this small hotel for a comfortable and convenient stay in Vienna. Room very comfortable and bathroom also very nice. The narrow street is quiet, and leads to a major pedestrian thoroughfare from which you can walk to anywhere in the city. Helpful front desk staff. The breakfast was outstanding and is served in a charming, very Viennese style front room.

We stayed for a week and found this small hotel was the perfect place in the centre of Vienna.
The bedroom was in a delightful barock style and very quiet. For breakfast you had a good choice with delicious fresh pastries, rolls and bread. The staff were attentive and very friendly with ideas of what to do and see in Vienna. It was an ideal place to see all the sights.
