“Hotel Reither, Vienna was awful”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

Upon arrival at this hotel in a dreary, grimy location the non smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke and the free WiFi signal did not make it to the end of the hallway where our rooms were located. We got moved closer to the elevator but the WiFi signal was still so weak I could not get a signal for anything more than email and then would get bumped if someone else logged on. Signal in the lobby was a little better but still very little band width.
The included breakfast was okay but they did not have a dining room and very little choice of good restaurants near the hotel.
The Metro (subway train) station was several blocks (ten minute walk) away.
Some of the front desk staff was incompetent and some okay (we were there three nights)

Room Tip: This was a terrible hotel in most respects. I am terribly disappointed that this is permitted to be...

The rooms were OK, although quite a bit outdated. Internet access was not working, except in the lobby downstairs. The location is excelent with 2 train stations at 5 min away, which is good because the area around the hotel is not interesting at all.

This is an older hotel. Dingy hallways, smelly rooms. Small rooms.
We booked a quad room thru the Best Western central number - these folks do not have them.
We bought breakfast when we got there - most of it was over when we got to the breakfast area.
The location is not good either - it is in the middle of nowhere.

This hotel is OK. The location is a bit off the beaten track, but very near the tram.

The big downside is there is no bar and the restaurant is not really open and does not serve alcohol. Kind of ruined the stay a little.

The staff are great, and it is clean. The rooms are fairly basic, but it serves a purpose. Over all it is good value.

I stayed here for five nights in March, and unfortunately I became ill during my stay in Vienna, so I spent quite a lot of time in my hotel room. The toilet being completely separate from the bathroom seemed a bit odd,as the two rooms sort of back on to each other, so not sure why they didn't just make it one big bathroom, but that was the only "problem" we had. Our room was spacious, clean, simple and quiet (which I am always very grateful for) the only time we could hear other guests was during the day every now and then we could hear someone practicing their opera singing, but we thought that was pretty cool :P The staff were really lovely too, we were there over the Easter weekend and when we left our room one day the staff had left a little bowl full of easter eggs on our doorsteps, it was really sweet. It was within walking distance to a few train and tram stations, so really easy to get around Vienna from here. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere nice but affordable in Vienna.

Stayed at the Reither again with my wife last Sunday and Monday night. Again, we found the place great value for Vienna at €74 a night. At this moment many of the roms are being upgraded, renovated. The 4th floor was completely closed because of this.
Should note that breakfast is no longer included (€9/person), but there is coffee and tea maker now in the rooms, so that was sufficient for us. Under cover parking has also increased by €2 to €17/night.
We have not had any problems regarding the area but, admittedly we do have a car. On the occasions we walked around, no problems at all. NOT ALL IMMIGRANTS ARE CRIMINALS, FOLKS!!! There is an excellent dim sum restaurant near the station. Mariahilfer Strasse shopping area is very close on the Gürtel.
Will be staying there again and again...

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room and on the quiet, off-street side. The higher up, the better.
