A 10-minute walk from almost all the major Vienna attractions, Das Tigra is an excellent home base for exploring Vienna. It has all the amenities you would expect from a modern business hotel, with a small stylish bar, free fast wifi and use of computer with business services, and staff used to catering to tourist needs. We were upgraded from a comfort double to a larger superior double top floor room, which had convenient extra space including a small love seat at the end of the bed. Our room was spotlessly clean, had nice contemporary furnishings, a TV with 4 English channels(!), and best of all, lots of shelving and storage space for easy access to our sundry tourist gear. Das Tigra even has the nice historical touch of having Mozart stay at the address. My only complaint was the droning sound of the elevator brakes across the hall, but it was only vaguely annoying at worst. The breakfast buffet contained a huge assortment of hot and cold foods, but we sure were crammed into the little breakfast room. Clearly the hotel is a popular one, particularly for groups, as it was busy and filled to capacity—actually, we were told by a staff member it was actually overbooked…

Room Tip: Avoid being near the elevator if possible

Very good location on quiet street within a 5 minute walk to shopping districts surrounding St. Stephen's Cathedral. Very helpful and friendly staff too. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The end rooms have a separate living and bedroom

I stayed at tigra a couple of times in the past, and again a few days ago. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are spacious and convenient.

On the location side, they are a few minutes walk from the center of town and from an underground station.

The service was good, but we did have to beg to get something we wanted.

Superior double room was lovely. Updated bath and room furnishings, mini bar, small flat screen TV and very clean. High floor near elevator was generally very quiet, with some elevator noise which seemed to stop at night. Bathroom door is frosted glass which allows light into the entire room at night. We didn't understand that concept - I guess it was stylish and we've seen this in other hotels in Europe. Location is wonderful and within easy walking distance of inner city sights and many good restaurants. Staff very accommodating and spoke good English. Breakfast is very hearty with eggs to order and a really great deal for an inner city hotel. Business center was good for email access and printing up boarding passes. Markets are close by to purchase wine, snacks, food, other items as needed. We will stay here again as we recognize a great deal when we find it. Hotel also has a small lounge / bar area with beverages for purchase - this was handy for our first night sip of Austrian wine. Very welcoming.

Room Tip: High floor, deluxe room away from elevator.

We booked this hotel for a three night stay in Vienna. The man working at reception when we arrived was kind and helpful, getting us keys to our room and directions to find dinner nearby. Our room was in a smaller part of the hotel off to the left of the lobby which proved to be most quiet during our stay. The room itself was very large by European standards as well as clean and comfortable. Wireless internet is offered free here and, although it is slow, it is effective. The hotel will also provide a tea kettle and/or ice upon request which was most helpful.

Like others have mentioned, the BW Das Tigra is on a side street about halfway down the block. It's typically quiet but appears to be in quite a safe neighborhood. Most of Vienna's tourist sites are within a short walk (5 to 10 minutes) of this location including St. Stephans Cathedral and the Hoffburg. Additionally, you'll find much of Vienna's noted shopping streets close-by as well. There are two nearby tube stops (called the U-Baun in Vienna, I believe) which are also about a five minute walk. The tube/subway system can connect you to the main train station (Westbanhoff) inexpensively and in just about 15 minutes.

Overall, I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again and would happily recommend it to others. It appears to be a great value for the price in this neighborhood.
