“Good but a little underwhelming.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2012

We made a booking to come here with 3 couples and 3 small children. We had to come early in the evening, but luckily were accommodated in the non-smoking area.

Appearance & Atmosphere: As per the photos the bar looks very trendy and no doubt for singles, friends, etc it is quite a happening place later in the evening.

Service: Initially fast and accurate but then our server changed who didn't know what was on the menu, didn't know if they had decaf coffee, and appeared a bit confused. Our waitress then accidentally broke a glass by dropping it on the floor - accidents can happen to anyone - and we helped her pick up the largest obvious pieces, but we then had to remind her on subsequent return visits to our non-smoking area that there were still small glass shards on the floor. As we had 3 small children there, this was something a little concerning for us.

Food: We were advised to have 4-5 "tapas" meals per person which is pretty much accurate if you want to have a meal. So don't be fooled in to thinking you'll get away cheaply - with each tapas around €4-6 you're going to be spending > €20 for a collection of mini-meals. Almost everything with the exception of the mini-burgers comes in a glass or mini-bowl. Some meals were better than others - the butter chicken is spicier than a normal butter chicken, which I liked but others didn't, and the bed of rice made it more substantial than some of the other tapas. The burgers really were mini (as advertised) - no more than 4-5cm in diameter. Unfortunately, even though you can order different varieties of burger - for example with salsa, or with bacon, or avocado - the single largest item in the burger is the bun itself so the taste is predominantly of bread with "something else added". The chips on the side were nice but not really the reason you get a burger, mini or not. The wraps were I think not all that inspired, predominantly ingredients from other dishes put in a tortilla / wrap, but the wok dishes were nice - I liked the spicy beef one quite a bit. Friends liked the spicy soups but I didn't have this so can't comment.

I think though that calling this tapas is a little misleading - tapas itself is meant to be a collection of appetisers which are shared among lots of people over conversation. I think this is difficult to accomplish at M Lounge as they are simply serving small portions in glasses, and a glass itself is an individual item not easily shared. Multiple people can't take a bit easily from a glass and for example put it on a plate to try a bit, especially as the meals are predominantly single-portion only - for example a mini-burger with mini-fries, not two or three mini-burgers with fries, and the wok meals really only have enough for 1 person to try the meat portion.

Overall, I think this place is most likely more interesting when you gradually try meals over the course of an evening of drinks and chatting rather than trying to actually have a full meal here. In which case you'll be focussing more on the atmosphere, experience, and the conviviality that spurs rather than the location as a restaurant for dining.

“Very good Tapas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

My husband and I dined there after reading some reviews on tripadvisor and it was just a short walk from our hotel.
We ordered about 7 dishes for the two of us and they were all very good. Particularly the dishes with wok grilled meats, they were amazing. Very sleek and modern setting and a good evening out even on a weeknight. Would recommend to any fans of tapas

“Badly cooked meals”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2012

I was impressed by other reviews on tripadvisor and decided to give it a try. First of all, location is not really good for you to walk from the central part of town. Secondly I was so disappointed by the quality of the food - it is definitely not a restaurant but more like an quick bite option for a bar. The overall impression of the food is that the cook just mixes the ingredients which are pre-cooked in advance with sauces and spices. So as a result you get not well cooked vegetables - almost raw, not full flavored other ingredients.
I would not recommend it for a meal but rather for a late night drink and snack
