Owner description: The Leopold Museum is a unique treasure-house of Viennese Jugendstil, the Wiener Werkstätte and Expressionism. It is the most-visited museum of the city's hottest cultural site, the MuseumsQuartier, and it houses the most significant and largest Egon Schiele collection in the world, as well as masterworks by Secession founder Gustav Klimt. Tip: The museum's panorama windows offer a wonderful view of central Vienna with Maria Theresa Square and the Hofburg Palace.

During our stay in Vienna, we visited the art galleries at Kunsthistorische museum, the Belvedere and Leopold museum. The Leopold was by far the best experience.

The museum has a large and well curated Klimt collection and Schiele collection, both with interesting biographical details. The temporary exibition was also excellent.

My partner and i visited the museum knowing little about art and only having heard of Klimt. Thoroughly enjoyed the museum despite our lack of knowledge and Egor Schiele is a new fav! A Vienna must do! Much better than the Belvedere in my opinion.

Leopold Museum is located in a museum quarter ( you probably know that already ), so location is really good, another good thing about this museum is that you can take photos inside. As for the collection I strongly disagree with other reviewers. Vienna Secessionists are one of my favorite periods and Gustav Klimt is absolutely my favorite artist, but art collection in Leopold Museum is very poor. If you want to see Klimt you MUST go to Belvedere. As for Egon Schiele they do have a nice collection of paintings and drawings, but still it's not that big, maybe I got unlucky and some paintings were on the loan to other galleries or exhibitions :(

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback!
We are really sorry to hear that your visit at the Leopold Museum didn’t meet your expectations. You guessed absolutely right: unfortunately an important part of the Leopold Collection – mainly works by Egon Schiele but also by his contemporaries – currently is on loan at the museum of fine arts in Budapest (fortunately for museum visitors in Budapest). Sorry again, timing has been really unlucky – as we were also preparing a new exhibition, some of our spaces were closed. Please visit us again, especially for you as a fan of Vienna Secession seeing the whole collection will be a treat…

this has a great collection and it is located in the museum quarter, next to MUMOK and around the corner from the Kunsthistoriches. you won't be able to do all of them in a day.

I included this in my review of the Museum Quarter, but I will repeat - I loved this museum. It is spacious and open. It was pleasantly uncrowded when I was there, and the collection was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the Schiele and the Klimt.
