A small, crowded, salon near the Graben in the center of Vienna, it serves two kinds of coffee ice cream, one regular and one premium for a surcharge. Both are excellent, for my taste the best in Vienna. Why? The flavors are richer and deeper, with little of the sweetness evident initially, while the texture is notably fresh and creamy. Many salons touted as the best in Vienna have excellent creamy freshness, but disappoint with a surge of sugar as the main flavor and only a pale taste of the nominal flavor, especially for coffee. (Of course if you prefer that style Zanoni and Zanoni nearby is just fine). Other flavors at Tuschlauben are good, but I am a coffee ice cream fan when I find the real thing, and this is it. BTW, the premium coffee is softer at first bite, then develops more at the end. I order both, depending on my mood.
