“Good hotel, nothing to exclaim or to claim”
Reviewed October 10, 2009

Good hotel, big rooms equiped with huge bathrooms. Very clean (everyday cleaning - sometimes too early) and placed next to Mariahilfstrasse (50 meters).
Some troubles about booking, they communicated us the price per room without breakfast (even this was required), but the staff was very helpfull. The direct reservation by email was without any additional fee or advance payment and they arranged the taxi from and to the airport.
A good breakfast, not very large choice, but enough good food and great choice of types of coffee. The bar in the hotel is good, but not excellent, you have a lot of options around.

We stayed at the Furst Metternich for our 5th wedding anniversary and chose it because of it's location. The Hotel is most certainly not a 4 star but it was a good base for seeing the sights, of which Vienna has in spadefuls. A stunningly beautiful city and far more to see and do than I had expected. The room was a little down at heel, but clean and resonably comfortable. Breakfast was taken in the rather gloomy bar area, but there was plenty of choice and sevice was OK. There are restaurants in the near vicinity if you don't want to travel back into the city to eat, we had a gorgeous meal at a nearby Korean restaurant. For a good choiuce of veggie food, go to the Nascht Mark.

We were given incomplete directions to the hotel despite emailing in advance. It took us 40 minutes to find the hotel which was only 5 minutes away from the station. When we finally managed to reach the hotel we told the girl,Bianca, about the directions they gave and she replied by saying it is very difficult to describe how to get there. She then described in 2 sentences exactly how to get there and I asked her why the hotel could not give this info in their email. She just made some excuses. The hotel could have sent us the correct directions easily!!
The room was unnecessarily large and empty and felt like it was haunted. Every time someone flushed the toilet next door we could hear it. The chandelier was pretty but was looking like it will fall down soon! There was a lot of noise from outside our room and when we asked for some sightseeing tips ,Bianca rudely said she was not a guide. We were not satisfied with the hotel and service

We stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend in April. This hotel has a good location, just off one of the main shopping streets in Vienna. It's close to 2 U-bahn lines - U3 and U4, so really handy for getting around. Beware though, their parking charges are a rip-off at €17/day. We used our gps to direct us to Erdberg Park and Ride (at Erdberg U-Bahn Station on the U3 line) which is only €3/day (incl overnight). We weren't sure about leaving the car there but it was definitely the right thing to do. You really don't want or need a car in Vienna! The hotel itself is quite old fashioned, quite charming. Staff were ok. 24 hour reception is handy. There's quite a lively cocktail bar in the hotel which was recommended to us by friends who live in Vienna, but we didn't get a chance to go there. Our room was small, but we didn't spend that much time in it. It was right at the top of the hotel (get the lift to the top floor and walk up more stairs) under the roof. But it was so hot at night, uncomfortably hot. If I stay here again, I will request a different room in the hope that a bigger room would be a bit more airy.

We stayed for two nights and the room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to the centre and stones throw from a metro stop. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, i would definately recommend this to friends.

It's cheap and it's great located near Mariahilfer strasse, a well known shopping street..I loved breakfast, very tasy and i felt great listening Mozart at first hour in the morning. The restaurant it's small but very stylish, old style!
The rooms were very very clean, i liked a lot this...it's not a beautiful hotel but it was so clean that i saw my room beautiful!
I didn't like that it was very cold in the room (not very, but i need 23,5 -24 degrees to feel confortable) and i didn't have the posibility to make warmer. I also didn't like a man from the reception who was very rude and he didn't understand english very well and spoke "german english".
My conclusion: if you are a calm person to pass away reception staff (just that man, te rest of them were very nice) and you don't need warm room, you will feel great at Furst Metternich, and if you like to do shopping, even greater!

We stayed 5 days in this hotel during the summer. Our purpose was to explore the beautifull city of Vienna.

Location: Very good. A few meters from Vienna's largest shopping avenue. Also a few meters away from the subway. Thanks to the proximity of the subway, you're just a few minutes away of Vienna's most important places.

Hotel staff: Did not see much staff. I can't say the reception girl was really friendly or unfriendly. She was just polite, nothing more, nothing less. Everything is on the breakfast buffet (including hot beverages) so you don't really have contact with the staff during breakfast either. They have a large bar, which we haven't used, so can't tell much about the staff of the bar.

Room: Was spatious en clean. We had a room at the back, which meant our window looked onto a wall. This is not so dramatic as we don't spent a lot of time on the room. The best way to see Vienna is to explore it, not by sitting at your window! The bathroom was recently renovated.
